After following the advice of rschoi75 and installing the hitec 225mg servo and the vendetta servo saver, this thing is AWESOME!!!! It will drive straight for days and does exactly what it's supposed to do as far as steering. The only problem I have is that the screw that came with the servo(the one that holds the horn/saver to the servo) isn't long enuff with the vendetta saver so half way thru my run my saver came off and I had to stop and put it back together. Does anybody know what size and thread pitch screw this is? Ive never had anything this small and have nothing in my parts bin or on another truck that will work.

Hi magnum,
Sorry for not getting back to you yesterday. Glad the servo saver is working out for you. I'm not sure what the size of the screw is, so the best option for you is to go to your local hardware store (with the screw) and try to find a longer match. I'll look around to see if I can find the screw size when I get a chance.

On a completely different note...

I installed a [link=http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXEWT9&P=7]novak 1000uf cap[/link] on the stock esc to smooth out the power, and it seems to be helping a great deal.
I just ran a full 1700mah lipo through it this morning. The esc temp was 112*F and the motor was at 103*F (Ambient temp of about 50*F).

Just dropped in some turnigy 1.7 2s lipos and man did it make a big difference, it's fast enuff to be really fun but not so fast it can't be controlled. If you haven't upgraded to lipo yet it needs to be on your to do list for sure

Just noticed that my right front suspension won't fully compress and after tinkering with it for a minute it appears that the dog bone is binding up in the outdrive from the diff. Has anybody else noticed this or had this problem? Mine was fine before today and I don't know what could have caused it. I mostly run indoors on finished concrete with low traction. The only thing I can think of is that it messed something up earlier tonight when I was testing out my new lipo and it hooked up and stood a wheelie (I was in an asphalt parking lot). I hope I didn't gut something out in the first 30 seconds of having a 2s in it.

I've read about this over on the other forum. Seems as if the dog bones are slightly too long and rub against the outdrives when the shocks are fully compressed. Cvd's should be released soon, but in the mean time, you can install some fuel tubing on your shock pistons to limit the compression.

On a different note, I got a new shell for the mini 8ight. I wasn't digging the "Optimus" body anymore.

I don't think the dog bones are too long but the screw that holds the out drive to the diff comes loose and the out drive is pushed out to far. You have to take the buggy all the way apart and open the diff to get to it. Once I tightened it up it was good to go again with no binding.

Had some front diff issues and Losi sent me a rebuild kit under warranty. Was wondering if I should use white silicone grease or red marine grease in the diff? Also how much grease should iuse inside the diff housing? I'm used to using oil on sealed diffs and haven't done much in the way of grease

I would use the marine grease and pack the diff pretty full , also use some medium (blue) thread lock on the screws for the diff drive cups .

Here are some pics of my Mini 8ight .....

So what exactly happened to your diff? I did not take mine apart yet but something grenaded in there. Was Losi okay with sending the parts for repair? Who did you talk to?

Thanks for the help.

It keeps backing off the screw for the outdrive and it started making nasty noises when under power and in a turn. I called them up and they said it sounded like the gears were faulty from the factory and sent me a diff kit free of charge. I'm going to put it in tonight so I will let you know if it fixes the issue

All back together and it's still noisy and rough as a cob. I'm starting to suspect rear wheel bearings and spur and pinion wear. I'm gonna take it down again once parts become available. Seems everything is on back order at the moment.

Well I've ruled out all the wheel beatings so now Ive got to get into the rear diff and check it. Spur is gear has some bad spots on it so it's a possibility. Whats weird is after I got it together last night I held it up and gave it so e throttle and it started making noise then it smoothed out for a minute but went back to making noise again. I'm also suspect of the bearing on the slipper shaft but was to tired to try and figure out how to pull the slipper out last night to check it. Anybody know the quickest way to get the slipper assembly out? It appears the whole rear needs to come apart but I'm really not sure.

Called Losi again today to ask a few more questions and they are now sending me a new pinion gear, spur gear set, and complete bearing set under warranty. Only problem with the spur gears is that they are on back order until middle of February. Maybe it's time to stop whoring parts out to the eBay vendors and keeping some in stock. Pretty sad that horizon owns Losi and they can't keep up with a $3 spur gear set.
