RE: top flite spitfire build
I have tried to put pictures on here but they seam to fail every time, I keep getting 500 Internal server error, Anyone any idea whats the problem is. Scott your going to love it, get it built, Pedro, props do not get any closer than that. I fancy a 90" one but feel my strip is to short to get her down but can you imagine the scope for detailing a larger one.

Paul,
Make sure every picture is about 800x600 or 1024*800 or something around those sizes. It is possible you are trying to upload pictures too large in size.

I Paul, great spitfire you have there!! I really like the weathering job, congratulations!
She looks incredible in the air! I have just watched your video (I was out the last 2 weeks), I will keep in mind to hold the tail down during takeoff

RE: top flite spitfire build
Ha Ha yes watch the tail she will jump up and bite you when ever you take your eye off the ball, thanks for the comments, much appreciated. Since the pictures I have added a pitot tube on the left wing ( airspeed indicator ) and also a few panels that in the real world indicate gear up / down to the pilot. I have also removed the silencer just in case a gear up landing is required, as it was there is a risk of it digging in and flipping the model or worse tear the engine out. We are heading into winter in the uk so not sure when she will fly again but anyone who is building one is going to love how this model flies. I was so comfortable with it so soon after take off I forgot it was a maiden and started doing barrel rolls and low passes, just watch the landings, she is sleek with very little drag and likes a long strip to slow down.
Post me your builds, lets see how there progressing.

RE: top flite spitfire build
Hi there, here are a few pics of the last work on the spit.
Studies here are keeping me very busy, so is really hard to find time for the build, at least for 2 more weeks [].
So far the stab is fully sheeted and I am working on the fin and the rear of the fuse, that part was really difficult with all the control links on the way.
I hope to be back soon with more progress

Glad to see you have glassed her, the balsa sheeting is very thin without and easily damaged, keep the covering as thin as possible though to keep the weight down. ( i'm sure you already know) Looking good, brings back memories of mine at that stage.

RE: top flite spitfire build
Hi Pedro and Paul, thanks very much for your comments! I culdnt find the time to reply, but now I am finally free!!
By the way Paul, you're right, glassing her was one of the best decisions. The skin specially in the wing is really fragile.
I have now the rest of the month to catch up with the build, I have finished the tail section and right now I am working with the bottom of the fuse.
Hey Pedro how is your build comming along? its been a while since your last build report.

Hi Cristian,
Yes, I am stuck at my building. Too many personal issues to take care at home at this time. My fuselage is ready to glue the wing fillets, then I can glass it.
I am glad you are out of classes. I hope you did great on them as you are doing in your building.

RE: top flite spitfire build
Ok, the bottom of the fuse is ready, and now I am moving to the side walls.
The only thing was to take care with the hatch, but a well placed making tape do the job. the pictures show the left side, right now the right side is getting dried.

Oh I like that, very handy for the air valve and charging socket not to mention the authentisity, should have done that on mine too, just be very carefull not to add the dreaded weight as the detail stacks up, looking forward to seeing her completed, talking about her complete is she going to be a pristine warbird or a weathered war torn veteran. I had mine pristine for a short while and then added the dirt and scratches later. She actually looked better witht he weathering added. Keep it up, looking great

RE: top flite spitfire build
Hi Paul, that hatch is like my command center for starting her up . I have the charging socket, air valve, remote glow plug and the receiver switch with battery indicator. I took the hatch idea from Scott and Tubig builds, both threads have been very helpful.
I am really considering doing some weathering on her, after all is a warbird, but no to much to be like "back from the dead". I really like your weathering job, looks great.

RE: top flite spitfire build
Here are a few pics of the right side already covered. I find out that for straight edges, by pulling out the masking tape parallel to the surface the covering cuts itself in a very clean straight line, but for more complexes surfaces it may pull the glassing out.
I got the top surfaces glassed this morning, so tomorrow I may put the second hand of epoxy to the entire fuse. The end is in sight!

Looking great, wow, your cramming some added detail into the girl, Shame really Topflite don't watch these changes and implement them in there future kits, like the split cowl and scoop on the lower part. She will look very scale when finished. Are you going to do what I did and complete the model prior to the maiden or are you taking her up in primer. I finished mine due to not wanting to clean all the glow fuel crap off, hate the oil residue it leaves, reason my other models are all petrol. Keep it up
