Default Mig 31 Firefox

Bored of the run of the mill RC turbine scale jets that are clones of clones?

Anybody want to try the cadwork for the Mig 31 Firefox....
yes thats ........the Clint Eastwood version.

The original movie RC version that they flew had a 63 inch wingspan....
would fit in a van without taking the wings off,
Larry Wolf ....said it flew lousy.... wanted to flip onto its back all the time.....

Warner Bros collected the stuff from the movie (molds... etc) ......never to be seen again...

Some of the known modeling gods should do this before they and the rest of us who love the plane pass.
(even if its fictional) its still a flown design....could be awesome with todays turbines gyros and gear.

The gauntlet has been thrown....
Godlike status awaits.......

Yes... saw that video too.......but the hand launch foamy EDF version does'nt do much
in the area of true godlike status and the excitement that would come
with a twin turbine driven model that taxi's, does the take off roll and lands .

I commend the modeler on his vision of showing us it can be done as an EDF
Although the landing flip stall would not work well with the turbine version.

(Old school jet modeler, with lots of wood, and extremely Cad challenged)

I know that somebody is working on it in secret.... as the cats now out of the bag...

the race is on...

Would love to see this, this thread is also reminding me of that batwing turbine jet someone is building..haven't seen anything on that in a while. Plenty of talented people out there, hope to see both of those flying..

What do you know about God like status

Being retired I would think you would have at least 50 airplanes built by now

As far as the Firfox,,,, way cool airplane,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I always thought they should have redone the movie I watch it when ever its on

I believe Larry Wolfe at JHI actually made and flew the models for the movie.

hey ... its nice to dream...

10, 000 years ago I built the voyager.... from the cartoon.... fantastic voyage..... all white t -tailed double delta
it flew....great.......thought about doing the turbine version.... but I would have to cheat as it was VTOL. with no gear.

This will take you back...to when we dreamed!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SLzXlCPx49U

But the mig 31 like dubd said is....SEX-AY.......WAY .......SEX-AYY ...and do...able
the cad gods here on Rcu could do it in there sleep.
I'm not ready to man-up again and do true ........designer scale.... from scratch...

You can believe me or not.I started building a MIG31 modle from scratch. It is 8.5 feet long, with a
12.0 foot wingspan. I've not been able to do any work on it for sometime, money is tight, and no
where to work on it. I have pic of what I've have done. I have them pack away some where. I will look for them and post them here if i can.

My designed was to use two KB-82 engines and two 5 in. ducted fans.

I know you meant..... 12 ft long with a 8.5ft wing.
it would be great to see it..and see one fly with some turbines in it....
(also one who has no longer the time to do it).

I bow to you (I'm not worthy.....I'm not worthy)........for......... taking on the dream.

Having to go after whats not been done....seems to be whats left.... to go after.

cookie cutter jets are not worthy of....... the wow factor anymore...

look out........I'm being stalked..... by "The grandaddy of ARF jet assemblers".

The building season here in california has been shortened once again by great flying weather...
it could take decades to get something like that done out here.....If I was still living
back in the north east....I could turn it out by say........... 2015...maybe...LOL

should have taken those cad classes. like this guy...

Here is some more info on the Firefox. This guy is actually in posession of at least one of the studio models of the Firefox. He was working on a 1/32 scale resin model to put into limited production, but that was put on hold due to some family matters. Not sure if Will is still doing anything on the Firefox or not, but he would be one to contact for more information.

It will be all fun & games until Warner Bros smells someone making a buck other than themselves.

Release the hounds!! (lawyers)

I suppose you could always call it the 'mythical russian clint jet'.

It wouldn't be the first time common sense has dodged the legal team. - John.
