I havent seen many (though there are some out there) gasoline engines small enough to fit a normal 1/8th or 1/10th scale truck. Most small gas engines that I've come across have been 15cc (.90ci) or larger, and they were for airplanes.

I get around paying $34-$36 a gallon by making my own fuel. I can mix 20% nitro/12%oil fuel for about $20 a gallon or a little less. 100% pure nitromethane is roughly $42 a gallon.

I can make airplane fuel for $8-$12 a gallon at 5% nitro/20% oil.

No conversion kits, but it could make a fun DIY project if you took an old small weedwacker engine and tried to mount it to your maxx. It has been done before. If you really want gas, maybe look into a used Baja 5B. You could probably find one used for 700$.

those little 4 stroke motors u are thinking of are expensive, dont rev, and are very under powered compared to the stock motor.
It will make ur Tmaxx heaps slower...not really a upgrade when u compare it to a electric conversion.

It has been done before but its nothing fast, those motors are ment for slow flying planes where the owner wants a more scale sound

Best bet, keep paying or convert to electric

"100% pure nitromethane is roughly $42 a gallon." There is no such thing.... Nitromethane has a minimum of 2% methanol in the product as a stabilizer. You have to find the exact % and work it into your math when you mix.

Go diesel! I'm sure you could find a little 3 cylinder somewhere.

That statement came from Torco Fuels. They sell "100% pure nitromethane" for $42 a gallon. I have no way of proving one way or another what the actual percentage is... Just going off of what the company claims.

The stuff I've been using is an 80/20 Nitro/Methanol mix from FHS, but its almost $20 more expensive than the Torco stuff.

Davis Diesel Development makes conversion diesel heads for glow engines, but the fuel is just as expensive or more unless you make your own.

If one could find a ringed car engine of appropriate displacement, it could be converted to gasoline. Some airplane guys convert big .90ci ringed engines to gas. The conrod needs needle bearings installed to use less oil, otherwise one still has to stick with standard oil content.

Also to note: Gasoline burns a good bit hotter than methanol. Model diesels run cooler, maybe cooler than a glow even.

Yeah I was just joking anyway. The only practical way out of nitro is to give up entirely and go electric.

Buy a Revo or EMaxx roller on ebay/craigslist. ERBE rollers are $200-$300 depending on the condition and how much is included.

Pick up a 150a ESC/Brushless Motor combo from Hobbypartz, +/- $200

LiPo batteries, $30-$50 each (you will need 2, 2s 30c 5000 mAh minimum specs)

LiPo charger, $50ish

Somewhere in the $500-$600 range.

Or less, if you are patient and go the Craigslist/RCTech route and get everything used.

I've had a classic maxx, then moved up to a 3.3 maxx. I got tired of the constant tuning and fussing with it so I bought an HPI 5B, liked it so much I bought a 5T. What do I have now??? Sold it all for a bad azz brushless E-maxx with a Novak HV Pro set-up. I gotta say... on 4s, it's just as awesome (and fast) as all the others but without the noise or mess. Kelly
