Hello
I maidened my Habu with JC P-20 today. Wow, what a great flier! Anyways, I just need to give you all a heads up, as my elevators nearly ripped off in flight. I was quite cold so it might be that the covering holding the elevators became brittle and gave up. The covering on the top side was torn up on the inside (close to the fuselage) about two cm on both elevators leading to flutter.
Despite this the model landed safely, but be sure to check your plane. I will cut the elevators and use regular hinges to prevent this from happening again.
Happy new year - with many happy landings

Helihover.

Hello habu's lovers.
I have planned to build my Habu with P20 but I have some question.
Do you glue the wing and stab on the fuse?
You speak at the beginning of the thread that you modify the canopy pin. DO you have pics about this modification?
What servo do you use? some of you use different servo but what is the best config?
I have seen that the hinge of the fuse are made by the econokote... Do you have problem with this hinge? or do you apply modification on it with the time ?
Thanks a lot for your answer.
Best regards.

Fifou

The wing and stab do not need to be glued, although Ali recommends putting and extra location pin in the LE, look at the beginning of the thread.
Just put a bolt in the end of the canopy pin with the head the same dia as the pin, there is a pic at the front of the thread.
Ali gives a run down on what he uses at the beginning of the thread, I used all Hitec HS85's
Hinges have not proved to be a problem.

All in all if you go to the beginning of the thread and start reading, all you questions will be answered by page 6.

Hi Fifou,
Sorry but I have removed the Conversions from our site. My supplier has decided that after 100 kits produced he will no longer be making the Habu conversions [] I have 10 more to come, but these are pre ordered, although not pre paid so there is a slight possibility of a cancelled order leaving a conversion free, but I won't know that for a few weeks yet, sorry.
If you are not going to remove the stabs, then I would recommend gluing them on. I did with my first Habu, but second left removable. Even fully tightened you could feel the movement in the removable ones.
A bolt screwed into the hatch latch with some lactate and then cut the head off was a simple and reliable fix.
I have never had an issue with the stock hinges, although I have never flown any of these in extreme cold.
I have set this model up with a variety of different servos, and did notice a difference between the centring and precision of the JR digitals and the others. In my opinion its well worth spending the money on good servos. I have had a run of aircraft recently where I have tried "other" servos, and each and every time I have noticed a difference, and for that reason will be giving up trying alternatives. I understand that for some people they don't want to spend the extra money, or have a budget to work to, and I fully appreciate that. For me... its just not worth the saving to compromise the way that these high end models fly by using cheaper servos.
Hope this helps?
Regards Al

Get your finger out !
I thought I was a slow builder.
Managed to get one finished and flown at Sin City Jets in Las Vegas in 2 months.

I'm not normally that slow, I rushed to get the pro kit when I heard marcs was making the last lot, then the kids decided it would be a great idea to start archery. So most of my jet Habu budget has got on four sets of archery gear for a "family" activity. Hopefully be looking at buying the rest by Easter :-)

Roberto,

Even though Ali has discontined his conversion, Tamjets still make one. I have one on order now. Come with a dual wall pipe, retracts, struts, brake, fuel tank, bubble trap, and all the accessories need to complete the conversion.

Thank you dsiems, I will buy the tamjets conversion.

Could Somebody please send me the PDF manual conversion ? I know that Ali have one, I don´t know about tamjets

The Tamjets fuel tanks looks small than Ali. Any tips to the tamjets conversion would be great

Best Regards

Roberto,

The tank is a 24 oz. tank and as for the PDF manual, I don't know if he has one but when I get my kit and if it has a manual I will scan it and send it to you.

Guys sorry to have had to stop making these kits, but as with all things there has to come a time.

The DFC fuel tanks I make for these kits (which have the hopper internally) are very time consuming to make, and having made over 200 mouldings (two for each tank) the time has come to move onto other projects.

I do have a few of the custom dual walled pipes left so I will make a few Habu conversion kits as 'specials', information is on my web site, and once the pipes are gone then there will be no more kits available.

PM me if you have any questions, and cheers to all those who have bought the kit and to Ali who suggested the idea in the first place

if cost me painfully amount of money to ship the habu+conversion kit from uk to Singapore

but still worth it if you ask me!

wonder ur stinger is same quality as ur conversion kit?

Since in the JetCat manual states for 110cm (at least) tubing on the pressure side, does it matter if it is before or after the solenoid valve?

After it is from the valve to the turbine

Thank you for your reply! Does it matter if the total length after the pump is around 1,6m? Moreover, is it OK tu use a small extension on the solenoid calve cord?

The purpose of the extended fuel feed line is to smooth out the pulses of the pump delivery to the turbine, generally this is after the solenoid, some have not bothered and have not had problems. (mainly because they did not read the manual)

Putting an extension into any lead is dependant on the power drop, try it on the ground and see, but with a partially discharged battery to see if it will all still work after an extended flight.

Thank you Mike, will try! I am talking about 15cm extension on the solenoid cable!
