My Moki 150 radial will be here in a few days to power my AgCat. Does anyone here think I'm crazy? 1/3 of the weight of the plane will be engine! [:-][X(]

What's up buddy?? Moki 150 for this plane should be just right. If you remimber Brain needed almost 8 lbs of wight in the nose. That is what makes using the radial better for these planes. I still have not gotten mine yet, I am going to have to wait until after the new year before I start my build. Good luck and send me some pictures.

Hey Walt! How you doin? Yea, I remember a ways back on this thread conversing with Brian about using this engine and I feel fairly confident I'm doing the right thing. Just have some reservations about it when I think about the weight of that engine...but it should be okay. I'll probably start on mine this winter as well - gotta finish up this H9 J-3 Cub I just started on. It's gonna have a Saito FG 30 gas four stroke for power. Should sound sweet in the air. But I'm really looking forward to getting to work on the AgCat. I'll definately post pictures when I do. It's been a long time coming to finally build this plane...I'm now closer than ever.

Did some looking around the airfield and took a few pics while I was there. Interesting what you can find afters years of being hidden away.

'bout like this thread! LOL

I finally got some plans for the Floyd Fitzgerald Ag Cat! Now to find the time to actually start building it. Now to decide if I want to build the radial or turbo prop version. I know I want to use the constant chord wingtips like my cousin's turbo version. But the look of the radial is just aww inspiring!

How about everyone else's Ag Cat's? Any new ones flying?

Go radial! New Evolution radial engines coming out soon..you can get a 7 cyl. 77cc or a 9 cyl. 99cc...both would work fine. Or you can spend a couple dollars more and get a Moki 150 like I did. Engine and plane are sitting on the floor waiting for me to get to it this winter. Finally!
Yes this thread is very sleepy...it will wake up soon.

Does anyone know how I can get a hold of a copy of the Model Builder article for Floyd's Ag Cat.

I have finally started gluing sticks together and thought it would be at least an interesting read.

Just let me know.

Could you provide us with a possible estimate for the kit and plans?

Or what about one at 1/4 scale?

I agree...it would take a large gas radial ($$$$$!!!!!) to pull that around. A plane of that size deserves a radial, not a twin or a single. How about a 100 inch or 110 inch model?

Thought I would post a couple of pics of the tail feathers so far for the Floyd Fitzgerald Ag-Cat. I modified the plans to reflect the extended tail and wings version of the "B" model.

Hey, RED ! . . . Glad to see your waisting no time getting your plane started! I'm Really Interested in seeing how you're going to do all the Wing Struts and attaching the Engine Box . Are you going to Sheet any of it, or What are you going to use for Covering ? .............. KEEP ON POSTING ! ! ! [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=wink_smile.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]

I'm still thinking about all the struts and engine mounting. I'm leaning toward the turbine version at the moment. But may change my mind back to the radial.

The entire plane will be sheeted and a layer of fiberglass except the tail feathers. The tail feathers will be covered in fabric.

I'm leaning toward replicating my cousin's full scale since I can actually document and scale off the actual plane. Even though I don't plane to compete or even get all the details, I'd like to get the ones that stand out.
