Hi Landeck, are you saying that the Fox 74 is similar to the OS 90 FX? Wow, I'm looking forward to using my Fox 74 next season.
No. What I am saying is that watching both Escapade 61s flying, one with the Fox 74 Eagle IV and the other with an OS 91 FX it is hard to tell which is flying better. Both engines power the plane very well. I have a APC 12x7 prop on the Fox turning 12,000 rpm and my friend has a APC 14x6 turning 10,500 rpm. Further, I have the full cowling and am a few ounces lighter while his has just the side cheeks. And finally, the Fox is new and just broken in while the OS is second hand. Given this, both planes appear to have similar good flight characteristics.

Had the same episope at field with palne also. Plane was ready to taxi out when it went to full throttle. It appears his fail safe was at full throttle instead on idle. His response was "Oh I turned tx off to set the timer" when he checked his tx his throttle was failsafe at open throttle.
Maybe you are glitching in some way.

I ripped out the L/G off my Escapade last weekend. It is the 3rd time it happened. The landing gear block is cracked in half because of the 2-piece landing gear puts a bending motion on the center of the mounting block. I'm going to carve out a new block and am thinking of buying a one-piece landing gear. I don't like the 2-piece L/G. All my planes pre-date the 2-piece craze or I converted over to 1-piece L/G.
Hey, I did mine this morning too, but in a traumatic way. My engine opens and closes throtlle by itself and I still wonder why it does. Anyway the plane suddenly speeds up out of control while taxiing. It veers off the field, hits the curb, break both landing gears and hit a tree. All I could do is trying to keep it from airborne and steer it clear off people. To my amazement, the plane had minor damage. Besides the broken landing gear and some tore off cover, and broken prop, it still intact.
Anyone gives me any idea why the glow engine throttle arm moves by itself. It's Magnum 40 XL engine. I used JR radio channel 18 and JR servos.

Test hop my Escapade sun day.it took two clicks right aileron trim.using a 800 airtronic reciever, ds821 servos and supplied tank.with the battery on top of the tank.engine is a thunder tiger .75 4 stroke topflite power point 12x6 wooden prop. CG came out at 2 1/2 inches out off the box.engine mounted per instructions. flys like the Super Sportster only faster.great climbs and slow but stable landings. stalls were straight ahead. hands off inverted flight. tight spins half turn recovery.only got to fly 25 minutes had to get home for football.

Very succesful maiden flight for my 2nd Escapade. Most of the flight was done at 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and that was plenty of fast. Nice combo with the 55ax with good fuel economy.

Just noticed that Tower has increased the price of the Escapade to $129.99 now.

I bought my original one for $98 with a coupon that brought it down to around $80, and the second one was $100.

I think this will be my last one. I would sell this one now but I've already glued the wings. Only thing left to do is put in the battery, route the wiring and fly on Sunday.

In my opinion this was a steal at $98 but for the extra money I think there are better planes out there. I had quality control issues with both kits I bought but Tower Hobbies are awesome and came through both times for me.

On the other hand I have some spares if anyone needs them; two sets of wheel pants I can't use because my bumpy field would rip them off, and a spare set of landing gear.
Hey, I'd like your wheel pants. mine broke when it hit the trees. Pl PM me.

     I was looking at this Escapade along with the Sundowner, Chipmonk, Nemesis and one more, to put a Jett .40 on, but after reading this thread, I don't know. I am open to input now. I just don't know.

Try it, you'll love it. Fly it fast or slow it down it handles great. Snap rolls are very quick, take it vertical, it will go nearly out of sight. All in all a very nice hobnset plane, one of my favorites.

Those are old post about early models,mine is the perfect flyer it went together and stayed together.Its a sport flyer and wasn't made to dive and recover in a 9G pull out.fast but not very fast flys like a .40 size Koas you'll love it

Just an update. Ihave been flying the Epade for a while and have tried some different engines . An Irvine 36, flew fine not overpowered . Irvine 53, FAST, scared that the tail would rip off in a dive. OS46SF, still fast great engine for this plane. Magnum 52 four stroke , good match not overpowered, I like the torque,sound and mileage.
Will be trying a Saito 62 next.

I had a Magnum XLS46 on my first escapade and it flew wonderfully. The plane was great if the dumb pilot would not have gotten slow on a windy landing the plane would still be here. I am now on my second and did this one electric. Got 10 flights on it and I am loving this plane all over again.

The Escapade is nice because it has an open cowl that allows easy engine changes. I have flown my Escapade with an OS 55AX (briefly), Norvel AX-40 (briefly). and Supertigre G51 for a long time with a MACs muffler. I should try my old Irvine 40 with the tuned muffler someday. Someday I might try one of my 4-strokes too, But for now I/ll keep the ST51 on it. It books.

Have been flying this model with a 70 fs O.S. and lately with a 55AX, with the 55 it easily goes past the 100 mph mark. The airplane is a blast to fly and can go up in any kind of wind conditions..............

Hey guys. Been awhile since i posted here in the Escapade thread. I havent seen my poor plane in over three months now. My family and I moved to Germany so my plane went to storage then shipped over the pond to our new home for the next few years. I am in the process of converting her to electric. I am going to miss the 55AX but the nitro is expensive here and the Germans dont appreciate a 55AX on a tuned pipe as much as I do. [] Should have some new pics this wek once my last box comes in and I get her out of the shipping box. Cant wait to fly my plane again!!!

Moved up from the Horizon Hobby T-28 to a 3DHS Slick 51, but am finding that it is too much for me, at this time. Way to responsive, even with the throws turned down considerably. Barely touch the throttle and it really jumps and way hard to land (coming from the foamy and floaty T-28).

So I am looking at the Escapade 40-56 to be a better transition (not as twitchy and allowing me to better respond to the controls, because it is not a 3D type plane).

Are my motor, batts and ESC from the Slick 51 suitable for the Escapade?

They are Hacker A30-12XL V2 motor, 4S 3000ma batts and Hacker 70 amp ESC.

With these items I am getting 833 watts and 55.2 amps with a 14 x 7 APC E prop and 6 -7 minutes of flight time (flying at a little over 1/4 throttle, which is still moving out quite nicely. Can do the IMAC maneuvers easily).

The RimFire 42-60-800kV motor and 3200 4S batts with a 12 x 8 prop are recommended. Some on this forum said they only get 4 minutes with this setup.

What are your feelings on all this? Will my Hacker setup will work sufficiently?

Really don't want to purchase another motor, etc., if I don't have to.

Using the 100 watts per pound formula I would say it will be plenty of power.

Around page 35 someone posted about using a saito 72 and said it was perfect for them. I plan on putting the saito 72 in mine, picking it up next week. I can't effin wait.

Ijust brought the Saito 62 home yesterday, I plan to do some maintenance to the Epade and install it perhaps this weekend. It already flies so well with "just" a 52 four stroke that I imagine it will be excellent with a 62. Ihave an OS 70 Surpass but it looks way too bulky to put on the Epade.

Is too much power for this plane?

With 10X6 Prop can reach 17.000 rpm or more.

The Epade is known for having difficulties with high speed flutter so pushing the speed is done with caution.
