Looks like a great kit. I was considering this same one. I currently have the Ark Model version that is a bit larger that will be up for sale soon.

Regarding these is myFIRST sub ever build I chose to start with a 80% already build one to understand the principal and the technique to do it.
What are the main differences between Ark Model (I don't know anything about it!) and the 212A U-boat?.
I didn't start work on it because I'm preparing to go in a holiday.

Hi.
From a little that I understand, the 2.4Ghz doesn't penetrates water all that good, compares to the other FM frequencies. Please double check on this, because I may be wrong.

HI,
In Europe is used : FM-27MHz(there are few owners), FM-35MHz , and the most often You may find FM-40MHz.
@yf222000 you are corect....NO way 2,4GHz! for the Submarines - witch is used specially for the Airplane,Auto and surface Boats.

No one build until now a "212A" kit?.
I have a Futaba 6EXP 6 channels (4+2) 40 MHz but is my first RC and I'm gonna need the experts advice from hare on forum to make the settings and adjustments,so could be used on my sub.
Regards

Bijou,

I recently received my Engel 212A kit. I am just in the beginning of the building process and have not gotten to the mixer yet. From the look of the video it seems that the mixer is not working at all. Are the lights showing "on"?

Here are my pics of my build so far.

NOTE - One thing I have noticed is that, even though this sub is considered a easy to build compared to others, the builded still needs to use common sense. Read the manual, read it again. Do not glue or affix any part until you confirm the step your working is pre-assembled properly.

Installed the tail fins.

You will need a 5/32 round file like a chain saw file. I happen to have one from another project.

1. Pre fit the guide tubes. Use the dive plane rod to align the guide tubes. You will most likely have to use the 5/32 file to properly enlarge the openings to fit and align the guide tubes.

2. Once aligned loosely install the control yokes to set the proper spacing. You might find that the the guides do not fit flush. This is okay for now. This is why we are fitting the yokes first. Once you have the guides properly alined, use a small amount of super glue to secure the guide tubes.

3. Do the same with the other set of guide tubes.

4. Once guide tubes are properly aligned and installed. secure with epoxy on the inside of the hull.

HI,
It seems to my problems are not going to stop here!.
So here it is:
1)-the rack doesn't what to go inside the aft threw the lock ring as You may seen on picture!.(25%_0069=0068)
My intention is to expand the diameter of 1mm the Lock Ring, sufficient to get the rack smoothly inside!.
But because I have not yet functional lathe,I have to wait until next week to find some one for these.
2)-what is the correct movement of the servo?(picture 20%_0067)
Please Response ASP.

Default RE: 212A engelmodellbau kit

HI, to ALL.
On The last steps with work on submarine 212A I did several tests on the desktop. Everything seemed to go well except DLX's absence, that even now after a month has not arrived from Germany !.
After assembly I started testing on water(in tub). Waterline is good without requiring for adjustments.
But obviously there is a BUT: I do not know what happens to the ballast tank, does not went to take the water!. Just go 2sec,and it stops for 1sec and so on,even if I hold still, stick in a position to fill!. It sounds as if someone / something is blocking and let him go as he please. And after 2-3 times moving stand still and do nothing. And do nothing even I tray to withdraw, when I try to empty it.Do not hear NO noise, nothing.I opened hull 2-3 times to see if the engine is block from something but it was not so.I do not know what to do.Out of the water and put on the table works!.
I do not think it's the battery on since the table it goes perfectly, the engine that is powered also from there and is working flawless and regulator also.
What do you think .... WHAT COULD BE?.
PLEASE some advice wheel be more then welcome.
MARIUS.

This may be a little late but I use a Robbe Futaba F14 40 MHZ from Engle. It performs perfectly underwater. If you are going to use it in a pond or lake I suggest a 1/16 x 3ft steel rod with a red plastic straw at the topsecured but removable to the sub as when it submerges it will be easy to see.
