RE: Larger Revolver
I have the large plastic one, which, and as you noted, I think is specifically for gas. I don't know exactly were the lint comes from, but it does occur and will become obvious with the loss of power. By the way, I rotated my carb 180 degrees so that the filter would be on top and more easily serviced.

RE: Larger Revolver
I like that the anodized filter is smaller and it makes it easier to mount in tight spaces (plus it looks spiffy with the gold anodizing). I took the screen out tonight, and its definitely good for gas. Because it's so small, I bet it would be too much of a restriction if it were put on a bigger engine that needs more fuel fow. Thats where the big plastic one comes in.

RE: Larger Revolver
on the ailerons, you have more than recommended on low, and more than recommended on high. It looks like you used the recommended elevator (5/16" low and 3/4" high) throws for tha ailerons. Did you look at the first one listed, and use that for the ailerons? For the ailersons, low is 1/4"" and high is 1/2". The manual is slightly confusing to me because they listed the high rates first, then the lows. It would make sense to me to list the lows on the left column.
I am going to start out with the recommended throws for the maiden, with exception of the elevators. I know guys have said that it's enough, but the way im measuring it, the elevator barely moves on low. So im going to do the high rate for my low, and set the high rate just slightly more than that. 5/16" is just barely any movement.
The recommended rudder throws will give a lot of authority. Maybe they do that so it will taxi capabilities and maybe because most guys dont fly with much rudder.

RE: Larger Revolver
How's everyone been doin? Has there been any maiden flights yet (jstanton, ICEMAN)? Or any progress made on their Rev70s? I took mine out to the club field today and ran the motor again and did some taxi time. Its running well. Im doing my maiden on either Feb 1,2 or 3. I WILL have some video. My buddy is going to maiden it, just in case there was something serious that I over looked, resulting in weird flying characteristics. I figure it wise, since he has been flying for about 30 years vs. my 3 months. And I am pretty good on the camera.
After he flies her and we know everything is operating A-okay, then I will take control of this little rocket ship.....
Cheers!

I have ran my DLE-20 with a 17x6 wood prop for about 40 minutes now at no more than 4500RPM. It has started very easy and the transition has been very good from 1800rpm idle to 4500rpm. I have hit 9000RPM once for about 5 seconds. The trouble started after its 40 minutes of running. I tried to run the engine up some and just past 1/2 throttle it just quite[:'(] Has anyone else had this trouble. I did not start it again becasue I had to get ready for work.[:@] I will test run it again tomorrow morning and see if I still have that same trouble. I am using the stock DLE plug for now. I have 3 NGK CM-6 on order.
I also have corrected my throttle linkage. Now I have a ball joint on each end of the throttle rod. You guy's are right it is a better setup.

Jim:
I had a similar thing happen with my DLE55; the ignition passed the Jedi Jody tests (you can find it in the gas engine forum on RCU), but it turned out that the ignition had failed; simply would not run above about 1/2 throttle. If you have another DLE20 ignition nearby, it might be worth trying that.
Conventional wisdom, and experience of very experienced engine guys, is that the DLE plug is unreliable, so most of us change those out as part of installation. CM-6 plugs are available at O'Reilly autoparts (plug #5812 i think) for about $3.
I find that my DLE20 floods VERY easily. It is not uncommon for me to have to pull the plug and dry it with a towel. Needles might be slightly rich, but not THAT much. When it is wet, it simply will not start or run. Anyone else having trouble with flooding?

RE: Larger Revolver
hopefully its not the ignition.
Change the plug out should be the first thing. Then move on if that doesn't help. Like i said in the other thread, I gap mine at .020" Whatever you choose, keep it the same so its doesn't run differently every time you change the plug out. Consistency is good.

My OS 120AX was broken in last month , so maybe I will do some taxi movements this weekend , I think all the things will reach here until friday . Just my FrSky system dont , but I have a FLEX radio system ( Original / FrSky Telemetry / FrSky ) , so does not matter if FrSky rx reach here only next week ....
But the Rev at the first time at my club I will just taxi and do all tests , command deflections , CG, radio range ( 1 mile )
I will make this a video.

RE: Larger Revolver
Im going thrusday, if not, friday. Ill have video.
I've just been working on my manual choke. That's all I've got left. She's really been ready to fly for a while. I've just been on duty a lot lately and haven't been able to make it all the way out to the full size airfield to fly it. I'm giving myself as much room as possible so that I can keep my Rev in tip top shape. = )
Good luck to everyone.

Ice:
Very nice build; well-organized inside the fuse.
I might suggest that you think about changing out the clevises on your elevator pushrods to ball links. Even though you have fuel tubing on the clevises, if you fly hard, they may come loose, even if completely properly installed and maintained - ask how i know that.
Ball links, properly installed, won't come loose.

Jim
What wood prop are you using to get 9000 rpm? Are you on a tuned pipe? I have a Xoar 17x6 and can only get about 7800 rpm, which seems to be about where the DLE20 thread would predict. My idle is about 1600. My needles seem to be about right, so I'm guessing that it has to do with prop loading. What is your altitude? I'm at sea level.
Thanks

Jeremy,
I am using as Turnigy 17x6 wood prop I got from Hobby King. I have one on my GP PT-17 with a DLE-20 and it fly's great. I am at 345' above sea level just off of the Mississippi river. I really like the pic and I see you have an asphalt runway. I will be flying mine off of a grass runway. I do not have a turned pipe on mine just the stock muffler. I know your Xoar prop puts a high load on the engine than the Turnigy prop and I my change over to a XOAR when I can. I had the Turnigy 17x6 on hand..
Good luck on you maiden

RE: Larger Revolver
stanton - i think you ran me and calhoun together, haha.
Our club has a really cool field. However, im going to go fly at a fullsize air strip for the maiden. It will give me a lot of room. Although I have progress pretty rapidly, I have still only flown my trainer in real life. So Im also having an experienced pilot do the first flight tomorrow to make sure it flies well before i take i up...
The 600' runway we have can get used up pretty quick with something like the revolver. And there are 3" metal fence posts paralleling the runway on the south side that can put an damper on your day really quick....
OH! You never posted your spark plug gap for me.....
Thanks,
Jeremy
