I have the ASP 180 4 stroke in mine and it flies well. Yes I agree that the canopy is too brittle. I will add some bracing inside the canopy frame area as the canopy is prone to damage if you flip it over upon landing.

Great work from everyone!

Prekin, your setup is very similiar to mine. I have a DLE30 on my D model with a scratch built cockpit as well. My plane came in at 18lbs and flies great with the 30 up front. It takes off in about 50 feet and has tons of climbing power. Plus, it floats in for landings. It's really a great flying plane.

Regarding your question about balancing weight, my plane needed 3oz of tail weight to balance.

Hi,
I am building ESM Stuka D, I have engine DLE 30 and I try to do cockpit myself. I´ve just done instrument panel and now I´m doing rear guns MG 81Z. Because the tail wheel was bad I did new one and also new main gear with springs.
What type of new main gears did you use and how you modified them to work with wheel's boots?
Thanks.

I used landing gear from Metalsvor, it is the Czech production. They are independent at the boots. Boots will be stick by glue with the wing and the gear will be connetct with the root of the origin landing gear.

Thanks for the info, but my boots are quite different from yours.
In mine, the leg is out of the lower boot and enters in it at the end.
Is very hard for me to change the final part of the leg. The boot and the leg are designed together.
Stefano.

The wheel is not from the kit. It's a PU 4.5' wheel. I don't like foam wheels.

Stefano, I forgot, that you have Stuka B version, it has different type of the suspension. I think that you can also make functional. The lower part of the gear you can connect with the lower part of the "boot". I think, that it is not very difficult.

In the pictures are my oil coolers. I´ve never found origin picture, so I did it this way.

Maybe you are right, Prekin. But i've no intention to spend more money and more time on this airplane. I've a Corsair '74 to finish with much more detail. The Stuka is my "training model" after some years of only EPO and small balsa elettric planes.

I have also Stuka as training airplane. But I´ve been forced to buy new better landing gear, because at our airfield isn´t perfect surface. []

Last weekend I spent by studing some Stuka details and reading book about it. Every german aircraft during World War 2 had swastik on the rudder. I was thinking about it and decided to do it.

I did it from stick foil. I drew it and cut it. But on my Bf-109G it was painted and I think that it was better. It looks better If you paint it.
The second picture is little bit smudged.

This is my "B" wing almost finished.

I trimmed a lot of plastic material from radiator and made them fake. There are no holes in them.

And for the wheel's boots i made a balsa support to prevent their rotation.

Perkin, Where did you get your tail wheel?
Maneba, The radiator looks great. Why don't you have it open in the back for air flow..stop some drag.

The tail wheel I made it myself. I made it also for my Bf-109G and now for A6M Zero, where is retract. In the picture is tail wheel for Zero.

If I compare the drag of the boots and radiators, I think that the drag of the radiators is inconsequential. They are too small and what is more important they are in the wake of the boots.

I think the same.
And that is the reason because i've trimmed them so small.

I want to buy wing cannons for Stuka. They will have much bigger drug than two small radiators or bomb under the fuselage and I don´t deal with the question about the drag, becouse I have DLE-30 for my Stuka and the power of this engine is enough. What is more important than drag is the weight.

You will not be disappointed with the DLE30 on this plane. It has so much reserve power to pull my plane around, and mine is quite heavy at 19lbs dry. Here's a video of me flying yesterday. You can see the power of the engine on the second takeoff. I pulled of the ground too early but the engine just drug it up into the sky.

The flying with Stuka nad DLE 30 looks pretty easy but nice. You can say, that your Stuka is STOL aircraft ( Short Take-Off and Landing)

I use a 20 X 8 on my DLE 30. It flies this plane quite well.

It is 2-blades propeller, isn´t it? I thinking about 3-blades, and I don´t what size I should choose for DLE 30.
