The 5700kv will be faster then the 4600kv Castle Motor, The higher the KV the more rpms it will spin. They both have the same size Rotor inside the motor so the torque will be equal the 5700kv just has more top end speed then the 4600kv. The 3800kv is a bigger motor overall, I think it also has a larger Rotor 17mm so it will make more torque then both and can gear it higher then both of those because it wont get as hot.

Here's my truck with the Blitz ese Titnaium TurnBuckles ballcups and Ball studs installed.

As you can see I run the Mamba Max Pro- 3800kv Castle Motor, Savox 1257 Titanium Gear Servo

The 5700 has potential to be faster but you need a great battery.  It also will run a lot hotter compared to the 4600 so the potential to go faster is countered by shorter gearing to keep it from melting.  You also lost the 3s option with the 5700.

No kidding on the burned out tires.  Are your front and rear tires different sizes?

he rears are low profile, they belly out at the edge of the rim. I got a set for my storm when I hit the asphalt.

How does it handle that way?  I can't imagine running the 2.2 road rage on the back with a regular diameter tire on the front.

I have no idea what size the rear tire is but it looks to be on a 2.2 size hpi rim, i got them from my buddy to use on the road. There proline road rage or road hawg tire's and there burnt up. Iuse them for speed run's the front tire's are HPI 2.2 dish rims and Losi Tires. I dont have any issues with handling as I go in a straight line.

they're not to great for turning, even if you readjust the camber.

I have no doubt they are 2.2 inch tires, I was wondering about the diameter. They are road hawg which I thought were low profile tires. I originally asked because I thought you were running a low profile rear and high profile front tire whoudl would have the truck leaning backwards.

Hi guys,

I have just ordered a Castle Creations SV2 ESC and 4600kv motor combo, a Chevy Silverado body, paint, a Zippy lipo, and some Deans connectors to solder on to my batteries and old ESC. When I have got it all set up and painted i will post some pics of it on here Im hoping it will look awesome and go like stink.

I finally got the Mamba Max Pro and the Firestorm is running again. The past few weeks have been a lot of fun. My son (6 years old) has really gotten interested in driving the car now and is doing a great job! He finally understands that he can't just hold full throttle and maintain control of the car. He really impressed me yesterday when he got a chance to drive on our local offroad track. They've got a "young guns" class that he wants to try on their next club race. I've played with rc cars since I was about 10 years old and it's really cool sharing the hobby with my son now. I need to learn something about racing now! I think I need to start with the shock springs and position of the battery. I've got the stock springs on it right now. And the battery has always been in the most forward position. Staying flat and landing the jumps smoothly is a real challenge on the track at this point. ;-)

This is my E-Firestorm, finally got the body painted today. I think it looks pretty sweet Ive got a Castle creations SV2 Sidewinder ESC and a 4600kv motor in it as well I had a pretty big crash involving a lamppost yesterday, which resulted in the pinion gear coming off, the esc getting flung out and damage to a screw mold by the servo. Which, apart from the mold was an easy fix. Im really quite happy with the firestorm especially its durability. It also copes really well with new motor

Default RE: Official E-FIRESTORM thread

has anybody with the latest firestorm, Vektor/vapour combo had loadsa trouble??

Started with....

motor screws stripping cos they wernt long enough (replaced with longer screws)

Motor shaft and endplate loose (failed bearings on 4600 vektor) new motor required

Esc wires broken as it enters esc (new esc required) vapour

ESC (1 day old!!) smoked, stopped responding all lights worked but didnt drive ( new esc required) Free upgrade to vapour pro!

Now, motor is wobbling again after 4-5 runs, fixed firmly in but body moves seperate to end plate (bearings again?) New motor probably..

will have to contact hpi tomorrow This has been in 2 months!!! from brand new!

I must say, hpi and there warranty have been fantastic, 2 new esc's and 1 motor (soon to be 2 probably) and they havnt been funny just replaced them for me. To be fair its a pretty new truck, doesnt get lots of bashing either.

I cant be the only one going through all these problems?

gary

Hey guys. Did some just for fun speed runs. Castle mmp/sct 3800kv on 3s 25t pinion and 83t spur. Temps outside was 29* the motor temp topped out at 51* and that was after some bashing also. I was able to get just over 3/4 throttle as soon as I gave it that last bit the front lifted up. Thinking of gearing and setting up to see just how fast I can get the sct setup.

Hello all. I should be getting my new E in the mail today. Can't wait! It's been 20 years since I raced. I used to race a Losi JRX-T when there were only brushed and NiCd batts. All this performance I am reading about has me excited. What parts do I need to order to keep in stock? Most of I am reading tells me this thing don't break much but my LHS doesn't stock much. When I used to race we geared and batteryed for 4 min 30 sec because races were 4 min. If I only intend to race 6 min races do I really need a 5000 man batt? Any tips and tricks will be appreciated. Keep in mind, I have been out of this for 20 years and all this brushless and lipo is like learning a new language for me. Thanks.

Looks real good, I run a Mamba Max with the older 4600kv 2 pole, Runs good and on 3s with 21/83 gearing it hits low 50's
