Default Ball links on 50CC

I have a 50CC Extra 300 on the table. There is some confusion with the ball link on the servo arm. One pic shows the ball on top of the servo arm, another shows it below the servo arm. Is ther a right way? Or is either way OK?

Thanks, david

I usualy put the ball on top of the servo arm.
If on the bottom it may hit the servo case at maximum tarvel

It is better to have the ball on the bottom of the arm if you can make it work without hitting anything. There is more torsional stress on the arm and servo spline when on the top.

Thanks for the responses guys. I am still hoping someone from AW can shed a little light on this. There must be some reason they chose to show the ball below the arm on most of the pics. Unless it was just the preference of the builder???? I have not set the throws. I will watch for interference at full deflection.

David,

We place the ball links on the bottom of the servo arm to keep it straight at full deflection. This transfers the most torque to the surface when it is needed most. Using a 1 1/4" arm should keep the ball link from hitting the case.

Thanks Mark. BTW, this is my 1st AW plane. It is hands down the finest quality ARF I have ever had my hands on.
