RE: Jim Messer Fokker DVIII
Jim never had one but his RC club in NY state, The STARS built a squadron of the Fokker D-8's and were 30% size. This was in the later 1970's and the plans are still sold by Model Airplane News. I happen to own one of the original STARS D-8's and it was powered by a Koritz 2.4 gasoline engine with a 20-10 prop and which was about as large an engine as available in the late 1970's. Today, a Zenoah 62 engine would handle this big bird much better.

I have. The wingspan is just about 100". The full scale.D.VIII has a 331" span so mine is 1:3.31 scale. Empty weight with the wings and three ancient giant scale servos, fuel pump and tank is a hair under 18 pounds.
Thanks for answering back so quickly. I'm pretty eager to know more about it. This will be my biggest model so I want to get it right before the maiden this summer. Is Bob Dunn still active?
ThanKs,
Mike
