thanks guys, that looks like it should help. I know the hellfire is no longer in production but I think is going to be a good starting point for me. What parts should I stock up on before they are gone forever(if not already) and what parts should I just replace now. I am new to this and trying to figure out if any place has a parts interchange so I know what I can get for other truggies that will fit on the hellfire. Also if anybody is in the Kansas City Missouri Area and knows a good place play around let me know.

I was thinking of converting my Hellfire over too. The Trophy Truggy Flux is similar and may have some parts we could use. Anybody found a kit out there for the Hellfire?

Stock wheels are 0 offset. If you get 1/2 offset it makes the truck a little more stable and I feel it drives better

Yes as long as you get truggy wheels they will fit. I have proline 1/2 offset on mine and they work great

No. HF came with old style MT rims. D8T uses LPR type rims (larger).

No. HF rims are smaller.

Hellfire rims -
Diameter: 3.23" (82mm)
Width: 2.20" (56mm)
Hex size: 17mm

Yes, but it sounds like he has a D8T and wants to use Hellfire tires. They will work on the D8T, if you don't mind the guys atthe track giving you stares. Tall sidewalls do make for less precise steering.

Glad to see there are still people out there buying and modding their HF's. Weather in the UK is just starting to get better so I'll have mine out again soon. Just picked up another HF for a steal on ebay too ($150/£100) in great condition too. I don't think the seller knew what they had and accepted an offer from me.

Remember, if you have a Hellfire join the HPI Hellfire Club on Facebook

Hi Everyone,

I know this thread has been dormant for a couple of years now, but is anyone still running these?

I got one of these when they first came out (2006?), ran it for a year or so, then put it away... Last week I was organizing the garage and came across the old Hellfire! It was still covered in the dirt from the last time it ran. Anyway, I spent the last week totally stripping it down and rebuilding it, and amazingly enough, the K4.6 fired right up!

Point of the story is, I'm looking forward to running this thing! Parts support seems to be waning though...

Thoughts?

I was looking for a hellfire before I bought my Axial. Always wanted one, but never had the funds until I couldn't find one lol. Hell of a truck. Got any pics of this beast?

Great looking Hellfire, nitroexpress! What wheels and tires are you using there? I've got to replace mine soon...

I just picked up a nice roller too, in the process of converting to brushless! Should be fun! I'll post more info on that one as it progresses.

As an aside to you, nitroexpress, where do you run yours? I'm just over in Petaluma

I only ran that tire/rim combo a few times on asphalt. Proline MT Roadrage tires on 1/2 offset rims. I believe that they are the MT 3.2 size, which are very hard to find. The 40 series Roadrage 3.8 is probably the closest match, but they are pretty wide. The increased width hurt the turning radius, but they were fun for messing around on asphalt.

My HF SS has been mostly a shelf queen for years. Different body and engine now. It's a nitro and I haven't found any friendly spots to run anymore. I used it to race at Lakeport and Thunder Valley, but they are gone now. I also ran it for practice at the Petaluma track that Eric started, but it's gone also.

I've been hoping for the local track scene to improve, but nothing seems to be happening. I was hoping that the Petaluma 1/5 track would start allowing 1/8 scale to race, but they closed down completely.

Nice! Sounds like a fun setup for asphalt. I've been thinking about a set of those Phatlines for asphalt use, but I like the look of your setup.

Sorry to hear its shelved! I understand though, it's tough to find anywhere to run these around here... I'm working on finding somewhere to go, other than my yard and street. Even a big dirt lot would be nice! I'm bummed I missed all the actual tracks around here. When I started in '06 I wasn't into racing, and now that I'm back into the hobby, there's nowhere to run! I'm hoping more places will be open to the brushless version once it's done.

Anyway, hope to see you around!
