RE: Video of our new
Hello,
This is my minigun and I tested it together with my friend who made this post.
I don't know if you really want one!!!!??
Because: they cost €620,- /pcs
You can by them here! :http://www.jetarrows.com/modelarsky-...icrogun-mcg05/
I must say it is a very nice gun!
Weight is 400gram! (without lipo and bullets)
Regards Erik

RE: Video of our new
Admittedly this is WAY COOL... BUT is it a good idea?
Actually firing a machine gun from a model plane seems to miss the point of modeling - maybe if you just fired blanks to get the sound, but what would you actually be shooting AT? And where do the bullets end up? Firing any sort of projectile from a moving RC plane is highly likely to cause injury to spectators and/or property damage. Not to mention that in the US and Canada at least the AMA and MAAC expressely forbid models from carrying or employing pyrotechnics or explosives, and the AMA expressly forbids the launching of projectiles by any means.
<EDIT> - while I was typing the link to the manufacturer was posted. I see that it just shoots 6 mm blanks for the sound. Still, that would class as pyrotechnics...

Main Entry: 2pyrotechnic
Function: noun
Date: 1840
1 a : firework b : any of various similar devices (as for igniting a rocket or producing an explosion)
2 : a combustible substance used in a firework
So technically its not a pyrotechnic, its basically a cap gun, and isnt used for creating an explosion. But i guess it really depends on what you classify as an explosion. When i think pyrotechnics, i think fireworks, not a cap gun. So i dont think there would be an issue with this

I think these are primarily used on RC tanks. And I think the fact that flames come out the front makes it a no-go for most WWI models (except maybe a Junkers). But, yeah, it's way cool!

This minigun fires 6mm blanks.
The same cartidges as used in a starting gun.
There is no way you could actually shoot real bullits or projectiles with it.

Yeah, as I noted I saw that it wasn't firing projectiles after posting and just edited in a comment.
As for defining pyrotechnics, I think the issue is not what the dictionary says, but what the AMA or MAAC insurer says when something goes wrong. Blank cartridges contain a low explosive (gunpowder) and can technically be classed in the same category as small fireworks on that basis. You and I can agree that there is a world of difference, but when an insurance company is seeking to deny coverage none of that matters.
Still, kind of a neat toy even if I wouldn't put it in one of my planes.
