John,
Thanks for posting the pictures I have sanded more on the wing tips and I think there much better. I covered the last three ribs to get a better idea of how they would look. What do you think?

RE: WACO YMF
Hi Peter, several weeks to get to this point. I have had limited time because of work and also the parts list and the instructions that I have are in German, which I cannot read, but with the help of this forum I have done well so far. I am taking my time as I am in no hurry and there are great ideas here on how far I want to go with scale. All the wings info that I have is in German, I did recieve some translated direction for the fuselage and part of the elevator which is where I am now. Very nice Plane and I will post more pictures as I go. It would be a big help to have the english directions or even the parts list in english, not all words translate correctly on the google translator, but I am happy with my work so far.

Rich

Dan,
That is looking really good. I think with a fabric covering with the grain spanwise will help level the dips between the ribs on top. They look about right for the very slight taper to the tip from W6. The bottom looks so much better without the ribs sticking out thru the bottom covering. It is about as close as you are going to get without building the wing with the exact scale structure. As they say - If it looks right, it is right. Good job.
Bill - any comments or opinion?

Hi Rich,
sent me a PM I can send you at least the first 12 pages of my translation which might be a bit more helpful than the google translation. You are invited to provide me suport to brush up the English translation because I am not a native speaker also comments to the instructions where to give more or better explanation is very welcome.

John, Bill,
Thanks for all the help you have given me getting the wing tips to this point. The top wing should go much faster now that I know what I’m doing. I’ll place an order for more balsa and get started as soon as it arrives. I hope to have a good set of templates by the time I finish the top wing. It’s been fairly easy to do so far and best of all a lot less sanding.

RE: WACO YMF
Hello gents, I hope to be joining your brotherhood in a couple weeks! Don't reserve a number for me just yet, though. I am slowly making my way through this thread (it's massive!). I am wondering about the t-shirts, though. Back on page 80 something (circa 2007!) I saw some t-shirts were done up. Is there still some t-shirts being made, or any plans to have more done? I would love to have 1 or 2 if I do join the brotherhood! Thanks in advance.
FYI, the kit I am looking at is an original 1/3 Genesis Waco. Michel at AMR even gave me the ok to get it! Now that's customer service!

Five days with a post? I’ll jump in and say hello. I got my balsa delivered today so I can start cutting on the top wing. Is it just me I seem to have several projects going on at one time can’t finish one before starting another.

How are you coming along reading this massive thread? Lots of good reading and information here. I think you may be out of luck getting tee shirts I’m sure if Mitch had any more you would have heard from him by now. Keep checking in so you can get in on the next batch.
Mitch,
You can always count on me for two shirts when the time comes.

Thanks guys, I'll keep my eyes open for the shirts. No rush, just curious to get a couple if someone still has some, or will have more made up in the future.
I'm just getting into the page 400s. I'm mostly just skimming the posts for detailing pics. There's way too much info to read it all, especially since it covers many different kits. Between skimming this thread and WacoNut's, I think I'm covered!
My buddy is going to look at the Genesis kit tomorrow for me, so we'll see what happens! Even if I get it, I won't start until next winter anyway, I still have 3 big-ish projects on the go currently...

Lins,
We are on the 3rd generation of shirts. The first ones were tan, the second run was maroon and the last one was Navy.

Thanks Mitch, I'll do that. My friend picked up the Genesis kit last night. I won't apply for a membership until I have the kit in hand ...

Ownership of a Waco is not a prerequisite for Brotherhood membership.

It is for me . If I join would I be the most Northerly, and possibly youngest (30)?? I'm hoping to see the kit before the end of next week.

RE: WACO YMF
I just pulled my 1/5th kit off the shelf and dicovered it's laser cut and has the cockpit kit. Was laser cutting common in the last run? Did it come with the cockpit or was it an aftermarket? Thanks.
RE: WACO YMF
Lins,
I don't think you will be the youngest member, but might just be the most northerly. We may have to send you a brotherhood parka instead of a tee to keep you warm way up there!!!!! Cheers!

Hi Guys,
I have decided to donate my 25% WACO YMF-5 I built from the Pepnio plans to the WACO Museum in Troy Ohio. I have contacted them and they are thrilled to get the model for display in their hangar.
Since I already have a 33% flying as well as a 33% Cub and several other models I need to make room and somehting had to go. This just seemed like the right choice. I am starting to get into the WWI planes and I need the room.
If anyone attends the WACO Fly-In this fall in Troy you will see the plane hanging from the ceiling.
Later!!
