Losi Starter Box issue

Losi Starter Box issue
1st time attempting to start the car and the box quits. Here is a photo of my problem. The wheel is hitting the spur gear in there. I'm usually pretty good about figuring things out but I can't see any way to adjust this.

Hard to tell from the pic. Isn't there supposed to be a pinion gear on the motor shaft?
