Default Solar Storm Today

It looks like it won't be same to fly our models today.

Im wondering how serious a threat it really is. Last time this happened a freind lost a plane JR9303 TX. Others were flying without issues. Im sure after reading what has been said that there might be issues, but the cell phones are still working. Just wonder what the risks are. Like one in a thousand vs one in a 10,000 incident? Some recievers come back immediately, while some have to re-boot. Not too worried unless i see some stats. My radio reconnects immediately, Futaba T10CHG. Waiting for my new 18MZ today.

You can put away the tin foil hats and enjoy the northern lights if you're far enough north to see them.

Its not causing any problems nor is it as strong as originally predicted.

Here in the Middle east, a mid day jet flight today was just like any other day....bit windy though.

Cheers !

Total non event. I think these solar flare warnings are a bunch of bunk.

Nope its real...last month heading south to the islands nobody was able to make contact with land on the HF frequencies during the last storm. I tried for more than 30 minutes to make a position report before getting through. Airplanes could hear other airplanes but no air to ground communication.
Same warning was issued to us yesterday effective for 52 hours
Areas of red are no HF transmissions possible.

These were lower frequencies than what RC uses. I doubt it would affect 2.4Ghz but you never know.

You just gave me flashbacks of using HF while a Flight Communications Operator on a P-3 Orion.

But as you say, thats a lot LOT lower frequency and more dependent on atmospheric skip for OTH, rather than what we do which is LOS
