I gave up on this after I tore it all down.....has some real nice modification parts like a protective input grate to stop rocks from entering ...also a real nice skid guard.....a special machined 2.3 tp 3.5 coupler to join drive shaft to motor......motor water cooler........micro servos........two brushless motors and a 35amp esc.......all parts are brand new

these things crank when they are built properly and this one has all the good stuff....just needs assembly

$95 plus shipping

Well I got the rest of my stuff today. Two 2200 3 cell Blue lipo, Flysky 3ch RX/TX 2.4ghz and servo to go along with my 3900 motor and 90amp ESC.
Now I just need to put it all together.

I finally got my coupler drilled out on a lathe and put my boat together. Here ss the first video of it in the water. The camera used was my old dig camera but it
turned out ok.

Yay, I'm back in Oz after a month's world wind tour of Europe and Asia, soooo nice to be back
I've gone and purchased the remaining parts for my NQD Jet Boat project, but I have a question relating to the ESC.
I initially wanted to buy a hobbywing water cooled ESC, but have now stumbled across ESCs that are essentially half the price of the hobbywing ones... Does any of you have experience with these?
ESC
(AU$52.50)Hobbywing Seaking-60A Brushless ESC for Boat (Version 2)

(AU$20.76)Mystery 80A Brushless ESC

(AU$23.00)Force Control 60A Water proof/ cooled Brushless ESC

I'd very much like youropinionson this setup, and these ESCs, I'm waiting on stuff to be sent from the US and China, but I'd still like to order the ESC soonish if possible (keen as mustard to get the boat in the water)

Here's the list of the items (and prices) I've bought so far for the boat, plus glue, hoses and copper tubing for water cooling

Boat
(AU$59.00)NQDTear Into jet boat<o></o>

RadioGear
(AU$43.95)FS-GT3B2.4Ghz 3ch Transmitter (with 1 receiver)
(AU$16.00)HPIsf-10W waterproof servo
<o></o>

Motor
(AU$53.54)HOBBYWINGSeaking B28 3900Kv Brushless Motor
(AU$9.56)UniversalJoint (motor coupler), 3mm to 2.3mm
<o></o>

Battery(may buybigger at a later stage, might also just parallel connect the batteries, got 3 intotal)
(AU$12.60)2x11.1v 1200mah 20c BQY Lipo Battery - some Chinese brand
<o></o>

Charger
(AU$70.00)eXTREMERacing R-605 Balance Charger + 5A Mains Power<o></o>

Cheers for your help

got the jet drive pulled apart and modified to take the new coupler i bought to be able to fit the bigger engine
I had to change the length of the shaft, as it wouldn't fit onto the coupler properly. I also had to modify the coupler a tiny bit to get it to fit in the "tunnel" in the jet drive

I hope this beast of a coupler will hold up OK, otherwise I'll just enlarge the original one with a drill

First I pulled the pump out and did the brass sleeve mod. Drilled a hole through the case and one side of the sleeve for a grease port. Plugged it with a grub screw. Heavily glued the pump back in the hull with marine goop. Sprayed the inside of the hull with two light coats of bedliner. I punched a hole in my first hull very easy. Now it takes a beating! Running a turnigy 3900Kv inrunner with hand bent aluminum cooling coils and Graupner 3.2 to 2.3 coupler. Turnigy 60 amp marine esc and HK-GT2 2.4 Ghz TX/RX. Stainless steel mesh from a sink strainer over the intake. Oh, and a metal gear mini servo. Reciever is plasti-dipped (sprayed) and connections are silicone glued (heavily). I have two with this set up and another with a 1/16 vxl setup.
and the foam spacer to hold the battery to the right countering the weight of the esc.

bought this ESC, Force Control 60A Water proof/ cooled Brushless ESC, for US$23 rather than AU$23, so another buck saved

if it craps out, I can always get another or upgrade to the better more expensive Hobbywing one I figured, why not try it out, I'll let you know how it goes

Just a note...

Your water inlet is blocking the jet outlet!

You barely need *ANY* pipe protruding into the nozzle - the force of the water jet will take care of the water feed.

Trust me, I know - I started with an inlet like in your pics, but have slowly filed it back so that it's just a little bit more than flush with the inside of the jet nozzle - the water feed works just as well, but the water jet thrust is *much* better.

here's the full jet drive, there are props on there as well, but the pic doesn't look 100% right, you could ask the seller of the jet drive though

AU$22.99 at present time

Hope that helps you,
Martin

You gotta love NWAR. Plenty of water here. Looks like the boat is still running strong Jeff!

Nice vid Shev, can't wait to get mine finished (waiting on parts)

Is there anyone around the Sunshine Coast that would be keen to hit a couple of creeks? Or anyone in the vicinity who'd be keen (I could always be convinced to drive to Brisbane)

yeah you do good work sundog, the boat still runs great! unless it gets some water inside and the motor or the esc gets a bit wet. thats happened a couple times but after it dries out its ok. i need to put a drain plug in it so that i can get water out easier.

Idont know how to copy the ebay add, but this was the cheapest I found and just installed it on my boat. Just copy and paste this onto ebay and it should take you right to the guy I bought from. Still waiting on parts to get mine up and running, but it looks good on the outside =)

Where is everyone finding the Air cleaner I see guys installing in the middle of the headers?

Thanks fellas.

As said by duckdogs, the headers are from the losi slider. If you want to make an air cleaner, you could be a little creative with a milk cap or some kind of bottle cap.

The editing software here was Adobe Premier, but I don't have the setting right from the GoPro to the Software. The GoPro is right, but I'm doing something wrong when I set up the editing software - too many options for a novice like me!

Seehuusen, there's a guy in Brissy that I'll probably catch up with next week to go for a jetboat run. There's also a few people on the Sunny Coast with jetboatswho may be interested. I'll send you a message later. Do you have any good spots on the sunny coast for a run? I'm happy to drive where ever for a decent jet boat run!

Thanks for the info on the headers (duck and shev). Here is my rig with fresh paint. Begging for a set of headers and air cleaner.

One of these in now my desktop image....not bad for an iphone photo. Also one of my MiniMono.

Thanks,

Hank
