The esc from savage xs doesnt have the power on and off button? I saw some savage hp and they have. It's weird to turn off unplugging battery.

The Castle switches are known for going bad so I guess they decided to leave the junk switch off of it.

Hi taberj47,
NI-MH is just for stock esc testing,
I'll buy some lipo when I know what is the max capacity of 7.4v 30c battery I can put in.
Thanx!

still waiting on the ol' esc. been almost 3 weeks so far since i shipped it to HPI. this is definitely the dull spot in this hobby lol. although it has given me time to replace worn parts, remove the tranny, grease up some gears, remove the diffs, inspect all drive cups and check the motor. all is good so far.

My kit arrived 2 days ago, started the build last night.  Got as far as finishing the diff, then stripping it down, then rebuilding it, repeat, repeat again.

It started binding (I think..) as in it would stop turning at one point but I couldn't see any obvious mechanical reason as to why.  It's now able to turn through 360 degrees easy enough, but feels a little notchy, not silky smooth.  Currently trying to decide if it's ok to go or if I need to try again.  I think I'm going to leave it as is until I get to building the other diff, then comparing the action of the 2 and seeing if there's a difference.

it should. i just bought an ss kit i am building...and took the wheels of my wheely king and put right on it with the nuts. the wheels that come with it (the ss) are off the nitro mt2.... so i dont see where u will have any problems at all...

Hi taberj47,
Which badlands tires on your xs? 2.2 all terrain(5.06 x 2.07") or 2.2 SC(4.4 x 1.96")?
Can I put badlands and dirt hawg on stock rims?
Thanx!

Does anyone know the specs on the steering servo? I know it was mentioned on this thread before but can't find it.

Thanks,
XS servo is the SF 10W while it is waterproof its very weak:
Torque: 36.10oz/in (4.5kg/cm) @ 6.0V
Speed: 0.18 sec/60° @ 6.0V

compare than to Traxxa's waterproof servo 2075:
Torque: 125 oz-in
Speed: 0.16 sec @ 60°

Thank you that's exactly what I needed. I'm thinking of using the Traxxas 2056, though. Do you think I would notice a difference with the 2056 as compared to the stock servo?

get the all terrains, not the short course tires. the sc tires are too skinny.

Yes there will be noticable difference (you'll be able to go straight!). I highly recommend the 2075 for waterproof servo.

ok newbie here so can some one help me out with the shocks please? i am hearing stiffer springs thicker shock oil ride hight all that. but can some one plese put into the simplest terms what i can do to my shocks or springs to keep from rolling over so much when i am trying to corner? i've got really stiff ones up front and stock on back and cant see much of a differance. so can some one please explain what i should do and how stiffer and/or softer spring benifit and dont benifit in different situtations.

you can make them stiffer, but that is only going to put a lot more stress on the shocks and arms because there is nothing to absorb the impacts of a jump. it will corner better with stiffer springs, but once you hit a jump, you are at risk of blowing shock seals, bending shock shafts, etc. your best bet is to take them slower.
