What do you think needs to change on the 30cc gear?? They are working on 10 sets of wheelpants. They should be done by the end of the week. As soon as I get them you ALL will be contacted. As far as Robart, I have called them at least 3 times a week with NO return calls!!! I called them today and spoke with Al. I asked him to tell Doug that he needs to call me, Because I need to know if he doesn't want to make them, I will go somewhere else!!!! Being a "mom and Pop Shop" most places blow us off, because they want to kiss ass to the Big Guys!!! It has been 1 FREAKIN YEAR since Robart got the GB stuff and I have only seen 2 sets of struts!!! Thats IT!!! I have ordered 100 sets of 30cc, 50cc, 10 sets for the 100cc and 150cc GB, BUT NOTHING!!!! So I am stuck in a hole, This is why I have asked ALL of you to call robart!

Gerry, here is my take on the 30cc gear just from my own experience. Just as a precaution We added additional 3/16 wire (via brazing) to the existing gear wire and filled the wheel pant tubes with expandable foam.
This works great but at the end of the day you have a 30cc size airplane with no suspension. My weak link in this process now is the axles. First off, the china steel is not the same purification process as the US meaning it has a lot of impurities and its strength isn’t even close to an over the counter 3/16 welded steel wire.
Once you have ahard landing and start the process of bending the axles it’s a never ending chase to keep them straight no matter how soft you land. So I think I have the fix. The bending occurs in the axle bend. I am planning on cutting off the existing axles and installing the aftermarket steel axles.
I think that once I install the new axles I won’t see any more problems unless I just smack her into the ground which would be my fault.
After all of the work we did brazing additional wire to the existing wire gear struts, I think it was a waste of time. After filling the wheel pant tubes with foam locking the wire into place, the brazing wasn’t really necessary.
Now if we can just get Robart on the ball this would all go away in the first place.

Servos are on the way, should be here tomorrow. Then I can start building. The wheel pants are carbon fibered and the engine box is fiberglassed. I am working with Gearhard to get a 3W 85 and exhaust. Not much to report until we start the build. Hardware package is awsome and the Robarts are pretty cool. I can't wait to see how she lands with the flaps.

I have been working on the 50cc Gee Bee and have a few pictures on my progress. The struts are the cat daady for this plane. I added a grill to the front of the cowling for a little extra look. It also makes a cool howling noise in flight. I have installed the DA 85 for this build. Will most likely go with a 26 x 10. The pitts muffler doesn't fit so we are looking into putting manifolds (operational) in the cowling.

I am leaving for SEFF in the morning and will have the Gee Bee with me if anyone will be at the show. See you guys when I get back.

Man, I am trying very very hard to get these and the planes here! Since our "supposed" investor back out onme when it was time to pay for the container, he left me with a $50,000.00 bill to pay. I am sorry, but I am only me and I am trying everything I can to get it here! I just sold my F18 Super Hornet 1/7 scale the was done in the Blue Angels. Look under jets, recently sold..... I am trying guys..... I really am!
Robart is "STILL" working on the Oleo struts for the 30cc, 50cc, 100cc, and the 150cc. There are 2 sets of the 50cc out right NOW being tested. One set will be at Joe Null, As I will also be at JN. I hope to have better information in a week or so, But I will get the container!

Lou did you ever get your BeeGee up in the air?  This thread seems to have died and was wondering how things have turned out.  Anyone? Anyone?

You are right it did go silent. I am still working on my 30cc Gee Bee. I just have the landing gear to complete. I should have it ready in a week or two for the maiden. I bought Robart gear for it and have modified them to work with this airframe. I will post pics of my process when I am finished. I fly off a uneven grass field so the gear have to be strong.

Hey Fellas, I have been very busy with Condor Aerial providing surveillance for law enforcement. Now that Obama signed the aviation billmaking commercial flights of drones legal these guys have been all over us for aircraft.

I still have the 50cc completed except for the exhaust. I should have it up and flying next weekend and will provide video. I can't wait to see how she does with the flap setup. Should be very cool.

Hey Condor,
I have a question on the air frame / wings, I want to put a Brison 2.4 ci / 39 cc in this. Will I have to beef up anything for that size? Do you know if the landing gear wires have been changed over or updated?

Thanks for any info

Mark

Hey BabbleFish. I have been out of the office for a few days. You don't need to beef up anything but I always fiberglass the engine mounting box. I have a 50cc on mine with no problems. As far as the wire gear is concerned, I know Robart was working on a set of struts for the 30cc. I have their struts for the 50cc and they work fantastic.

Thanks Condor, I was thinking of getting the HK one and then buying the Robart 4 piece gear (2) #664 and (2) #668. The lower cost of the HK would offset the cost of the gear. I was not sure if the GB frame was the same from HK and GMP. I don’t think that GMP has gotten his stock in yet from looking at the website still show a lot of out of stock on things.

What have you done for air flow over your engine? I have not noticed any opening at the bottom of the cowl for air exiting. Can you also tell me how wide the cowl is about where a side mount carb would be on your engine?

Thanks

Mark

I mounted a 3W 50 engine in mine with side mount carb. I don't remember how much room but I do remember its more than enough even for the 50cc. I opened up a hole in the bottom of the cowl for the exhaust tubes and have PLENTY of airflow. I run mine as lean as possible, wide open, the entire flight with no overheating problems.
