RE: 1st Annual
Also,
I'm interested in input from jet guys about what kinds of things you like or don't like about jet meets. This isn't the first event I've run, but it will be my first jet meet. For this first one, we want it to be informal and friendly. No competition, just a lot of camaraderie and burned kero. We'll hopefully have a lot of spectators, as the cross-border interest is high, too.
Any constructive and helpful ideas and input is appreciated!

Don't try to keep the local 3D pilots or helicopter pilots happy by inviting them to do a 'lunchtime demo'.
You may keep them happy but you will P1$$ off a lot of jet flyers by wasting their valuable flying time.
Try to get at least 3 (they will need a break) competent flightline directors who understand jets.
Have a small flatbed truck with fire extinguishers on board available to fetch crashed/stuck jets.
Is there a bar or restruant nearby for an informal Sat night meal & drinkies?
It would not hurt at all to pray for good weather. Good luck!
John.

Boomerang,
Thanks. I used to love the noon-time demos, but that was before 3-D heli flying was entry-level. Now, even the most talented 3-D flying bores me stiff. I'm almost more impressed with a steady hover and fast forward flight now.
Yep, we've got watering holes and restaurants less than a mile away, and I plan to recon some and see if I can make some kind of arrangement. Again, thanks for the input!

Hi,
Just got back from it right now! To be honest, the turnout (for this first one) was FAR better than we expected. We had good music, good spectator attendance, good staff (thanks CVMRCC!) and lots of nice raffle prizes donated by Horizon Hobbies, John Weaver's Discount Hobby Warehouse and BVM. The guys barbequed jalapeno links which were really good, and we even handed out those little propeller toys to the many kids present. Unfortunately, the wind picked up early both days, and blew at precisely 90 degrees across the runway by the early afternoon. That didn't stop Andy Werner or John Weaver from logging flight after flight with their sport jets.
I got flights on my F-16, F-15 and F-4. Had a blast! Pics to follow....

Hi,
Sadly, Big D didn't make it down. There were quite a few out-of-town guys who thought they'd come but didn't, but it was still a fun weekend with mostly local guys. There are only a handful of dedicated San Diego jet guys, but all but one showed up. The weather didn't do us any favors, but everyone felt it was a cool event all-around. Lowell and John really helped make the days fun, and I'm looking forward to next time.

Hi,
We did have a great time. Would have been nice to have you there, Paul! Next year. This one is definitely a keeper, and we're going to keep it informal and FUN. Lots of general public spectators which was really cool to see.
