ESM P-51 Build thread
Well guys I have never done this before and will appreciate any advise that you guys can offer. I have ordered a ESM P-51D that will be powered by a DLE 30 and have Sierra Retracts. I will post pics and info on mine when I get it and start to put it together. If anybody else out there has one and has some advise I will take all you can get. I searched and did not see much info on the plane so decided to do a thread on it for anybody that cares! Will post pics as soon as I get it and start.

Aside from beeing an ESM dealer, we offer a buildout service for ESM planes we sell and all other brands we handle.We would be pleased to help you with any build questions on your project. First thing you will want to do is checkout the supplied hardware.When we set these planes up for our customers we use 2 servos for the elevators.

hi,
another extremely important point, the Recommended CofG in the book is WRONG. it is WAY too far back, there are several threads for building this model, here are a couple,

first off check the CofG the book recommends, it should be about 130mm max, back from the glue joint in the centre of the wing, there are a few very dissapointed pilots that used the book numbers, the book throws are pretty ridiculous as well.
the DLE30 is a good engine, there will be heaps of power,
I have the ESM P-51B kit, with an RCG26 engine, 130mm CofG, it is good,

I have a tracking number! Get it Monday and will post pics as I unpack it. I know that I will be going with a DLE 30 but don't know with muffler yet! I will probably go with a jtech pitts but I am torn on going with the Keleo Scale exhaust!

I have bought this plane. I will be using a RCV120SP, with the Keleo Scale exhaust, and Beila semi scale four bladed prop. However, I may not start it for another year!

I have the ESM P-51 B model, the wings are fully sheeted on top, but only back to the Main Spar underneath, then covering, anyone building these kits dont take any notice of the book CofG, it is WRONG. it should be 130mm MAX back from the centre line of the wing, 120 would be better, also tilt the undercarriage right forward, for better ground handling.
it will fly well with a 26cc gas engine, (I have the RCG 26 in mine) but a 30 would be a lot better.

I was thinking of picking up one of the new 36cc rear exaust motors for one, bet it would be an awesome combo and fit real well in the stang..

The completion guide also says the HD-1501MG 236 oz-in servos can be used. 14 BUCKS EACH!!!! WOW!!! Anybody have any issues with these??

this is all true i lost my KMP mustang due to this problem.
