NARCA (Harvest) C40 Race - April 28
Hey Guys,
Race # 2 in the circuit is at Epps' Field in Harvest on April 28. Please see the attached flyer. Last year we didn't get to run this race because of the tornados around the state and the massive power outages in the Huntsville area. We spent much of last year on site improvements to recover from our lost shade shed. I'm glad to say that we look to this year to be much more about flying than about re-building. I hope to see as many of the Alabama/Tennessee C40 pilots as can possibly make it. Help me with headcount through this post. I want NARCA to be ready with the right amount of food and fuel. Please see attached flyer for the April race.

Hello Ernie.
I plan on coming to the race.
Also, Randall Bosworth, aka Bos, says he'll be there too. I talked to Bos a few weeks ago about Harvest and I am chiming in for him since he has no 'puter/internet.
Hope to see lots of people there. Now,having said all that....let the 2012 Alabama TRASH TALK begin folks !!

Man, these airwaves have been dead as of late .
So with the Harvest race coming up at the end of this month, who has marked their calendar and already got permission from their bosslady to come out and race? Lets hear from SOME BODY at least?[X(]
Ive got two new engines that need broken in soon and a few more still in the box, I guess once those two get broken in, then I'll swap out the stock rods for the high dollar titanium ones.

John, I agree, we need to build a fire or something to get some activity going!
Last night I pulled the batteries out of Batman and Robin to give them their annual checkup. They both tested good so that won't be an excuse for me. I have not flown either plane since the last race which I think was October. I didn't race in the November 2011 race due to being exhausted.
For the Harvest race this month, I plan on racing unless we get a big turnout and then I'll probably just concentrate on running the race.
My wife and I bought a new house and we will be moving the end of May time frame. The new house is only about a mile from where we currently live. Our new house is all on one level which will be good for my wife's knees (mine too). About this same time that we are moving the project I'm working on at work is moving to a bigger facility and my office is moving to a new building. That is three moves happening at the SAME TIME! So if I seem a little confused when you communicate with me you know why.......
See ya at the races!
Tim

Guy's
Just for your Info. I talked with Ron Tally from the Montgomery area, and it seem's that he and his brother want to fly some Club- 40
with us. He said that he would like to fly in your race @ Harvest.
From what he told me they both have legal airplanes, (one has a LA Racer and the other has a Sky Rader with a TT40 on both.)
We talked about having a practice day @ the Alabaster field to let them try their hand B-4 going to race and to make sure his stuff will pass Tec !!!
I have also talked with The Tuscloosa Al.club about hosting a C-40 event !! Seems to be quite a bit of interest here, as some members have airplanes as well...
This is one of the best flying fields in the South and will work very well for a Club-40 race..

It's good to hear about the new blood! Some of our old blood seems to be getting a little tired. Maybe we need a little "tonic" as a pick-me-up. I'll bet a few turns around the poles could get us up and going again. Welcome Montgomery and T-town! I gather that I should figure on two from Montgomery for the Harvest race. I was unsure about whether anyone from Tuscaloosa had indicated an interest in flying at Harvest. Please let me know (for lunch headcount and fuel requirements) if I should add you in. We always count on a few extra but would like to have as good an estimate as possible.

Well gang,
tonight I did a post mortum crash review of the Mooo II after the collision with 'Ol JimBob Andrews Auburn plane at Alabaster and he got me good! Two servos were stripped (rudder and throttle) and the rcvr had a nice dent in it where the battery imprinted itself in the front the rcvr. I stripped all I could strip off what was left of dear Mooo II and I will call the newspaper tomorrow to get the obituary posted
I was down in the basement wondering what I should do about a plane and then heard something coming from the far side of the basement! It said in a soft voice " pick me, pick me, Im still worthy of winning a race." I walked over to where I heard the voice and it was the original MOOOOve On Over fuse calling out to me. I said "but you are tired and your covering is peeling and you've had a good life and all but dont you think its past time that you retire?" All I heard then was " just trust me" and I then heard silence from then on.
So I guess its on now for Harvest on the 28th with the original MOOOO ! I reckon Jimbob figured he could take me out and just prance right in at Harvest and mop up,.... I think NOT!
I got half a pound of dirt out of my mota and got it all cleaned back up again, so look out!!!!
I guess its a good thing all that dirt didnt scratch my new ceramic sleeve and piston and mess up my -0.85 gram titanium rod that I got from California huh?
Get 'um tuned to go fast boys, its almost race time!!!!!

So far the weather is looking good. I'm just hoping that the wind will die down. It has been very windy for the past two weeks! Crazy! I still have not flown either of my C40 planes since November of last year!
We will have the gate open around 7am and will open the field to practice flying around 8am. I expect to get the first round started at 10am. We need to get the sun up and out of the way any way. Pilots meeting at 9:30am. This later start time is more realistic and should help you guys that are coming in from out of town.
Entry fee will be $15 and it includes lunch. We will have several items to be raffeled including an LA Racer ARF.
Please come on out and bring a friend!

I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! Thanks to the pilots who came from Smyrna, Decatur, Birmingham, Wetumpka and, of course, Huntsville. I'm guessing that's about a 250 mile distance between the homes of our northern-most and southern-most pilots. Thanks also to NARCA workers. It was great help for our non-racing club members to be able to handle the ground support, the turn marshals and to assist in calling.

Yep Dave, you read correct. Mooo and Rick Grimm's plane duked it out in a tie breaker race for position of the A main. They were neck and neck until the 9th lap with one corner on the right pole to go until the finish. Neither plane survived unfortunately. Man, that was some race right there!!!
