I did that with a p-51 one time. gust of wind caught it on a very low high speed pass.. slamed it into the ground and it spread out about 30 ft in one direction. i about died i was so pissed at myself.

I'd rebuild it, just to say I can. You should see the one I'm working on now. Not as bad as that one but damn close.

To be honest.......not many people on this earth have the skills to re-build that mess!![X(]

....just purchase another ARF, put in a fresh Lipo and go fly!! Saves lots of time and wasted energy!!!!

Man you are so right! Ask me how I know, Ive learned the hardway too! I had a guy tell me once that every plane big or small has an experation date, you just cant read it and it exspires when you least espect it too!

Planes are a lot like people, you just don't know when your expiration date is up, even though you try hard to comply with "best used before this date'.

last week I touched down with my wing on the saftey ropes with a world models plane. I thought oh no busted wing, When the rope caused the wings tobreak loose from the fuselage yanking the receiver out. All the connected servo and antennae wires caused the fuselage to practically implode. The wings were not hurt but my feelings were. Definetly you showed us the dark side of the hobby.

That'll make a great Bar-B-Q charcoal fire starter. Save it.

Looking over the holed ply wood in mine, I see there will be no rebuilding after a crash. Ply wood doesn't like to go back together again.

Solid balsa sheet wins over holed plywood when it comes to repairs.
Holed balsa becomes an unHoly mess also, and really doesn't save much weight if you are using good wood to start with.
The worst crash aftermath I've seen was a 120 mph AMA Fast Combat plane that got cut lose and it plowed into a pile of structural steel girders straight in after a nice, long dive. It sheared off everything above the crankshaft.

In those pictures, the lipo doesn't look any bigger than my 800 mah 7.2 v battery packs. I use 2100 to 2400 mah packs and still check the voltage after 5 flights if I am still flying that day.

That reminds me of one of mine... Profile plane, elevator had way to much down trim in it. I trie to turn it around to land it, and it dives out of the turn, throttle screaming, and into the ground. Have you ever seen a plane shatter??? [X(]

A buddy lost a big plane this weekend, he said it was the worst he has ever done...

Debris was spread about 40 feet, and his YS 120? was laying 20 feet from that mess.... he did comment that thankfully the motor seemed ok.

I guess we can add " the batteries will last all day" to the old saying " why do a preflight check, it flew fine last time i flew". both had the same results and just anouther reason i preflight check everytime i takeoff. but sorry for your loss all the same.

Wow that's a bad crash.

At least your friend has an excuse to buy a new airplane. Maybe you could get a seperate battery for the engine and reciever if it's not too expensive to prevent a total loss of control again.

I cant help but say I told you so! Last week me and my buddy were out flying, he had made several flights one after another with his GP Cherokee, I had told him hey you need to check your battery and his responce was its a lipo battery im good for the day! It wasnt 20 mins later hes screaming "IVE LOST IT! IVE LOST IT! I DONT HAVE CONTROL OF IT! I wasnt flying and all I could do was watch it go over and past the treeline some 3-4 hundred yards away. The look on his face was priceless and all I could think about was " Its a lipo its good all day" I so badlly wanted to say I told you so!

This is where you discover that long hidden self in you.. that you always wanted to be into niche marketing.........

So you collect the pieces, box itand put it on E-Bay as "RC kit for the expert builder" and you use a couple of phrases such as "sold exclusively to the world'smost expert builders", "There's only 1 kit like this inexistence the world"and "Be the owner of this exclusive kit".....

You charge 3 times the price of the original kit,Some nut buys it - you go around collecting crashed planes and sell it off, makes millions, retiring a rich man that have his own tropical island and flying planes from it.... and all it took was a little niche marketing.....

Looking at the way this plane went in, there must be a bulge on the other side of the planet of the impact zone......
Cheers

Hey I have seen an ebay auction like that for boats.

It was for a 1941 Chris Craft Barrel Back.

Guy wanted $2,500 for it, he said that you could get $40,000 for it once it was "fixed up"

Looks like a minor crash......  then run over by a train 10 times!

Are you sure your buddy didn't put any explosives in there?!

Looks like the pilot survived the crash!!!!
