Yes, it can run opposite direction. Just reset the pick-up to be timed at the 28-30 in the opposite direction.

The simpliest way would be to buy a strap on pick-up. There's one here, just scroll down a little 11.95 universal timing clamp.  http://www.rcextremepower.net/ignitions.html

Any reason for not using a pusher prop from Zinger? That's what I did on this 50cc pusher. The brison 3.2 runs great this way. Dan.

There is not a large selection of props in the pusher catagory. I would just rather reverse the rotation so I would have a better selection. Zinger only makes wood props, Right ? They dont do well when they come in contact with water...lol

Yes....you can get it to run the other direction.....but not as strong.....the intake manifold (cast as part of the crankcase), is "Directional".....

tande. Not one for argueing but  how do you come to that conclusion. My understanding is it's just an open port.

Correct. The engine doesnt care which way it spins as long as the ignition point is set correctly.
Menz make pusher props in most sizes. I bought a matched pair from Menz for the two counter rotating G62 in my Cessna 421

The I/M is cast offset from center & with an angle that allows crankshaft/rotation/direction to assist in the intake charging process....

The offset mean's nothing other than it's offset. ALL reed block's are directional, just not as it regards to crank rotation. End of subject for me!!!!

Have you reversed a DLE111 and ran it the other direction, doesn't sound like it from your post.

I have.

jetG23,

Buy the universal positionsensor, set the timing at 28* BTDC,put the prop on backward and give it try, you may be surprised.
