RE: Balsa USA 33% Ercoupe progress
Has anybody had any over heating on thier Coupe with the cowl stock holes.
I think I need to cut more for the exit (2/3rds exist for 1/3rd entrance rule of thumb)
But someone suggested I had enough exit and that I need to plug some of my entry holes with 3/32 balsa.
They are thinkng that the HOT air is trapped and just circulating around!
Any suggestions.
Thanks

I had a G62 in my Coupe and never had an overheating problem. The scale gaps between fuselage and cowl, at the rear of each side of the cowl, and the cutout in the bottom rear ofthe cowl for the nose gear, seem to supply adequate air flow for the heat to escape.

I am new to this bird but flew it about 6 times the other night in front of club members and they all thouhgt half throttle was scale looking.
The 61cc does a pretty good job, it is NOT a YANK and BANK plane.
If a 80 would fit in the cowl I think that would be a good match with power to spare.

Does anyone still subscribe to this thread? I am seriously considering this airplane as my next project. Buzz, I left you a message. Is anyone out there building this kit? I'm looking for a reason to talk myself out of it, but I can't seem to find one. Would anyone out there be interested if I did a build thread on it?

You build it and I will watch
I have a small Jack Stafford kit one that I built several years back and I enjoy flying. I like the 1/3 scale but space is becoing a premium.

Looking forward to reading your build thread. I purchased an Ercoupe a few years ago and need a kick in the pants to get going on it. I saw a beautiful example at Warbirds over Delaware. Flies real good. One of the prettiest planes there.

RE: Balsa USA 33% Ercoupe progress
I am currently building this kit. I purchased it for something to do this winter. I am still calling it my winter project but am not saying which winter. I liked the 'coupe so much I started looking for a real one. I wound up buying a Cessna 150 instead. Five days after I bought the 150 I got a notice from the FAA that my medical certificate was denied. [&o]

To anyone who has built this kit: Would it be possible to get a copy of the instruction manual from someone? I only want to borrow it for a week or so, then I'll return it. I just really like to read and understand all the steps BEFORE I jump in with both feet. That way I get a better idea of what's involved. Unfortunately BUSA does not offer a downloadable copy. I promise if you send me the original, I read it (twice) and send it right back. Thanks!
