Fellas,
-A pic of the flt timer that was started on the first gear retraction. The only reason we quit hot fueling at this point was to rehydrate after being in the sun! Once we got the ol' Iron Lung started off the SCUBA bottle, we wanted to keep it going!!!

What a great time. Many thanks to all. The weather was great, a little warm but light winds down the runway. 77 pilots, pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs each morning thanks to Dawn and Bob-O, grilled chicken lunches, flown in lobsters for Thursday night(thanks to Phil), ice cold watermelons to cool down in the mid afternoon heat, and of course the Sat night feast. Sure we come to fly and BS, but no one leaves hungry. I want to thank BVM, FTE, RCJetAddiction, Horizon Hobby, Boomerang Jets, Jet Central, Michele Jackson and Hinds Community College for helping make this event special.
Eric Clapp went over the top again this year by donating two great pilot prizes and a turbine to the school. Many thanks Eric. Eric donated a turbine a couple of years ago also.
We raised $2,200.00 from the Boomerang raffle alone…thanks Patricia. Thanks Hose and Kim for putting extra pressure on those guys for the raffle tickets.
It was fun watching the guy choose between the men’s and ladies jewelry…she wins out every time…smart guy. That guarantees him coming back to MA every year.
The P-51 passes on the deck would make the hair on your neck stand up. Did the same as it just taxied by.
Lots and lots of flying. I looked up one time and saw 9 pilots in the air at one time but all were flying smart and communicating on the flight line.
I’m thankful Chris Huhn did not blow anything up he wasn’t supposed to but it was spectacular.
You all make my job easy. Thanks. Dennis, David and I look forward to seeing you again next year.

I really had a blast this year. As usual, everything was awsome! Only bad note (for me at least) was after three great flights, the turbine cut out on take off in my F4 Phantom leaving nothing but dead air 75 feet between it and the runway. I managed to level out and land it on the grass, but she still sustained quite a bit of damage. The error reading was "RXPWFAIL" so we are trying to look into why that happened when the batteries to the RX were good.
I will start posting pictures shortly. I took around 800. (will pic out the best lol).

For the last 2 years (and 2 months, to be exact , I've been hearing about the infamous "Mississippi Afterburner" Jet Event. Although Phil attempted to describe it in detail, I could have never gained a more true picture of Southern Hospitality and a genuine sense of family, had I not attended myself. Now that we are back home in Maine, I know why he was depressed when he could not attend last year. Mississippi Afterburner 2012 left a lasting impression on both of us. I can honestly say that this will remain our favorite event. Memories were made and friendships formed that I hope last a lifetime.
I hope everyone enjoyed the lobster - glad Mr. & Mrs. Eric Clapp could enjoy those set aside for me. The chicken was much better
A big thank you to Miss Michelle for being a gracious hostess and for being the keeper of our jets. If they don't show up tomorrow, we know you kept good on your promise to hold one back for yourself
Mr. Vernon - the best MC/M&M supplier/hustler of t-shirts & tickets I've ever met.
Bob O - thank you for being the chef connected with the yummy breakfast(s) & for being our chauffeur; Dawn - thank you for "flipping".
David R - thank you for your candor, your cooking skills and use of your bathroom, so I did not have to use the "blue room".
Sherry, aka: "Momma" - thank you for my Vitamin Water Zero & your sincerity. It certainly made me laugh AND prevented me from passing out.
Kim - thank you for introducing me to my new addiction, coconut water I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you, as much as we had time for.
OZ - It was great to hear your stories and to hang out with a fellow "step-parent". Thank you for your sincerity.
Buck - You gave up your comfy chair, your towel, your water AND Motrin. For that, my ankle & I thank you
Jenny, Ad, Josh & Katie - It was a pleasure meeting your family & we look forward to keeping in touch!!!
Jose (aka "Doc") & the Texas gang - great to see you again!!
To the rest of the Horizon Hobby crew (Sean, Dave, Chris, Tim, David et al) - I enjoyed meeting y'all & hope to see you at the next event.
Lastly, I want to once again congratulate my beau on an amazing run. Your flying skills are unmatched, you build beautiful airplanes and I will always be your biggest fan.
If we have left anyone out of the above stated recognitions, it was not intentional. I cannot blame it on the Mai Tai's (maybe next year?).......
Regards,
Meg (& Phil)

lol, being amazed by the story being told about how Craig maneuvered his A-10 Warthog in the day to get a better look at some local babes tanning themselves on a beach in the Gulf of Sidra.

Megan, thanks for the comments about breakfast but just to set the record straight, Dawn is in charge of breakfast. She just tells me what to do and where to go. One time she told me where to go and I told her I wasn't ready to go THERE. [] I wasn't feeling the love at that moment. All kidding aside, we enjoyed do it.
Megan, it was great meeting you and hope our paths cross again soon. You must be some kind of saint to put up with Phil and his antics. Tell Phil the timing was off when I went thru Baton Rouge for T J's Ribs

Andy,
Sorry your misfortune with the F-4 forced you to fly the P-80 so much, but I sure enjoyed seeing it fly. All the youngsters and newbie jet jocks haven't gotten to see much of the P/F-80s and T-33s because they are now old school, but they are real classics that we oldsters flew a lot in our earlier ducted fan days. You did a great job flying it and it seems you have mastered the landing, which is an artform with that aircraft.

I posted Andy Andrews and Craig Gotschang's photo galleries on the Mississippi Jets website. This is an upload of most of the photos they took at MAB and is almost 1000 pics total with almost another 1000 to go from myself and two others. Over time I will add captions, but it will be slow.

Forgot to ask while I was there, who made the big hawks? Vernon's was a Hawk 100 in the Canadian scheme and there was a regular hawk in a British flag scheme. They looked great on the ground and even better in the air. Definitely want to put one of these on the short list for my next plane.
