Any other engines fit inside the Evader? The stock one is discountinued.
The stock DTX .18 motor is made by O.S. Engines. If you're just looking for a replacement motor you can either rebuild your original DTX .18 as the parts are still available or buy a new O.S. .15 CV-X as it'll bolt right in place of the DTX .18. In fact the O.S. .15 and the DTX .18 use the same case. One can even rebuild a DTX motor using the O.S. head, piston/sleeve, and connecting rod. I personally run the O.S. .15 and it's all the power I could hope for, and if you're wanting insane horsepower the O.S. .18 CV-RX will also bolt right in. The DTX .18 is a .18 displacement engine but it uses a much cheaper piston/sleeve combination that doesn't perform as well. My O.S. CV-X .15 has more power then my original DTX .18 and is much more durable.

I'm also sure that other engines could be adapted to work with the Evader but you'd probably have to adapt there original motor mounts to the Evader as well. O.S. makes good engines if you just want to keep it simple.

Sweet. What combination do you recommend for acceleration? I have a dremel tool, any porting that you know of that can help?

The O.S. CV-X .15 has all the acceleration and top end that I like. Nothing stops my Evader, even tall grass. If you want to be popping wheelies and tearing up drive trains try a CV-RX .18 or adapt it for a .21. I've heard of some porting their exhaust manifold but I wouldn't recommend porting the engine case.

Ha, just bought a cheapy cheap evader in reasonably good stock condition. but a non starter. upon inspecting the stock engine found this when taking off the back plate:

I guess thats why its pee'ing excessive fuel out of the exhaust when priming??

So, managed to secure a clearance O.S. MAX 15CV. will this engine just drop straight in or will i need to mod the mounts, will the crank shaft be long enough and will the orginal clutch bell, fly wheel and cluch shoes fit right on there?

The DTX .18 and the OS .15 CVX have virtually the same crankcase with different markings on them, the .15 will bolt right in and the flywheel and clutch should just bolt right on.

My son and I still run ours as does a friend of mine who actually runs four of them. Never heard of the catofulthar diff mod though. What is it?

The diff mod was not mine, if you search back a bit through the post you can find out who it was basicly you make the diff into a locker by drilling the plates and bolting it together. Only downside to it is if you get too much traction you will snap an axle or damage your wheels.

The slipper tightened up on its self and when i got traction this is the resulting damage.

My bad, I thought you were the one who made that up. My bad. I'll have to research whoever first made it. But the mod kicks *****. You can get traction practically anywhere but the downside is that it snaps axils if you get too much traction like if your driving it on concrete or if one wheel gets in a bind

Thats cool, was wondering if maybe you had wrecked it too hard or somthin, did that over the winter and had exploded the entire front end on my stock evader got that fixed but i still gotta replace some parts in the driveline that stripped when it wrecked.

Do you run the diff mod? One of the main reasons i stopped running mine was i kept snapping cv shafts.... Which are a little expensive in my book.

Ive ran an aluminum spur gear on both of my cars so far ive found the stock dtx.18 handles them fine but my OS 18 shreds them like its nothing i can only run the standard nylon ones. You ever tried running one of the aluminum spur gears?

Ive only striped 2 plastic ones in the 5 years ive had the car and that was only cause i jumped it with big tires and when it landed i had the throttle up too much so the bind i put it in stripped it. The other time i was driveing it and one of my cv shafts locked up putting the rear in a bind stripping it out.

Ive probably stripped 6-10 of them, tend to get gravel or dirt kicking up and it just kills them.
