Please help with 18MZ tx stick issue
Since I started to fly rc in the 60s I have used slightly stiffer stick springs. In the past I have ordered from the Futaba service dept. stiffer springs for my 9Z and 14Z radios that worked great. I now have an 18Z and while I have been told they come with stiffer springs mine are not. Unfortunately I do not remember the part number of the springs Futaba has provided me in the past but I want to duplicate them. Can you please advise what part number I need to order? Thank you.

RE: Please help with 18MZ tx stick issue
You may be thinking of the heavier springs that are used on the 9C, 10C, etc radios.
If you have an Airplane version of the 18MZ, it already comes with the heaviest springs that you are safely able to use on this transmitter. The Heli version has softer springs.
The reason that Futaba Japan does not make a very stiff spring for the 14MZ/18MZ transmitters is that the gimbal parts and the pots are not the same as the gimbals in the 9C/10C series and they can be more easily damaged by very heavy springs.
We see this every day here in the service center where people change out their springs for some not meant for these transmitter, and the internal plastic parts and even the pots must all be replaced. Of course when this happens, many times the cost to repair the gimbals is not covered under warranty.

Hi Krysta,
Thank you as always for your quick response. I am however more than a little confused as I had stiffer stick springs in my 9Z and 14Z radios as did others here in my club that were provided to us for those txs from the Futaba service dept. there in IL. I am trying to duplicate those in my 18.

Once again, there are no stiffer springs for the 14MZ and 18MZ than the ones that are furnished on the Air versions of these transmitters.
If you received heavy duty springs from the Futaba Service center, then these were ordered under the assumption they were for a 9C or 10C and not being used on one of the above mentioned transmitters.
