Well, the big Corsair is on Top Flite's website. Looks pretty good but the tailwheel is all wrong. Downloaded the manual and studied it this morning. Am undecided as to what direction to go. Have to say, I really like the aluminum reinforced center section/gear mounts.
Must be geting pretty close for it to be back on their website. Very interesting that they modeled it with ALL OF THE COWL FLAPS CLOSED. Gives it a much cleaner look, however the open flaps always helped with cooling

There are pics from Toledo over on FG, looks like the same Robart tailwheel they sell for stuff this size whatever model and it's WAY too short for a Corsair....

I agree, wonder what other options are out there for a tail wheel

Here is my modified Robart tailwheel. Not super scale, but way better than stock.

One thing that would help the looks of the tail wheel would be for the doors to be fully open. They should be closer to the 3 & 9 position instead of 6 & 12, that would help a little by showing more of the gear. But even then it is still setting way low

Sure, I cut down a piece of bar stock and drilled it on my little lathe. I just guessed on the lenght. (what looks right to me) The other side pieces are thin Al. strips cut with snips and smoothed up with the belt sander. I didn't have any wire for the longer link so I cut old allen wrench off, which actually works pretty good because it already has flat spots on it for the set screws. The bolts in the longer shaft are just long enough to hold the AL straps on with out tighting down on the allen wrench.
on the very back I used a wheel coller and a 4-40 bolt then I bent a 2-56 pushrod to make the loop/ tie down. One end is looped around the bolt and the other is bent 90 deg and inserted in the allen head. The loop doesn't swing freely but will move if bumped.

I hope this makes some sence to you guys because I'm not sure if I understand how I did it.
Kelly

BTW It makes the wheel stick out the bottom automaticly. However I did set up will upsidedown on my bench. When I flipped it over it hanged down just I little to much because of the slack /slop in the gear/. Just didn't fill like changing it.[&o]

Hi Capt G...have a notion or two, this is my first pic

http://www.wallpaperhi.net/thumbnail...-4-Corsair.jpg

This plane went down, crashed and burned Nov. 10, 2002 in Columbia, SC. during a low level formation flight preparing for a Veterans Hospital Fly-By. The pilot survived but the plane was destroyed.[]

n8622t I'd be real interested in the redesigned tail wheel also. The stock Robart unit looks like it sits way too low, especially with the gear doors. PS glad to hear the maiden went well on the ME-109, to bad about the P-40, but it's always better to wait than try to fly with equipment malfunctioning.

Ya I tried a cheap servo on the choke and it worked during the 2 1/2 hour ground run...I guess the vibration was too much for it

I do like the look. I have a personal policy of not modeling any planes I know crashed - karma shy i guess) I found these:

Site was saying early June, now it's saying late May. All I know is I talked to a sales rep confirming I still wanted the airplane and it should be shipping next week.
