Signed in Florida.
Also, as reference: Cherry Creek State Park, Centennial, Colorado home of the Denver R/C Eagles, and
Markham Park, Sunrise, FL, home of Markham Park Pilots Association, the Broward County Radio Control Association, the 332nd Red Tail RC Flyers, and the Broward County Helicopter Pilots Association.

I would think that if you worked the issue correctly you could coexist with the swamp. Seems like a good buffer for flying planes. Much better than having a park next to where people could complain about the noise. Maybe you guys should try to work to be an inland in the middle of the swampland. That way the city could still show the use of the land for a buffer for a recreational activity and you could keep your field plus not worry about encroachment from soccer fields in the future.. Our field ended up next to a bird sanctuary/swamp and it has probably bought us another 10 more years of use into the future. If it wasn't there the land would have already been sold for commercial development and we would have been gone long ago...

I've got opinions pro and con, but since I fly (and since it's Jack asking), I'll happily sign. Heaven knows it might be my field next...

No problem. We appreciate the time you dedicated to look into the issue and thoroughly evaluate your response
Thanks

Now that you have explained the circumstance I won't side with your side of the issue. A swampland is just that and is not intended to be an attraction for humans. If you club owned the land and were being evicted at the convience of the county than that would be another issue.

If it was guys who say ride dirt bikes through the woods in the county park and were approved to do so, but now they want to turn it into a swamp, you would side with the environmentalists because you don't ride dirt bikes and you don't personally know anyone from their club?

Signed from SCOTLAND when are local councils going to do something for us we are getting as endangered as any other small group. Perhaps if we were classified as endangered the governments would provide for us the way they do for all the groups who are on the edge of society.
Jim.
Ps Keep up the good fight.

Another Signature from another Floridian!!
I can understand it if the Parks and Rec Department were trying to portect a current Swampland area, but creating one just because, sounds absolutely ridiculous.. Besides, our Field is right next to a Swamp area and a small marsh / lake area, and we peacefully coexist with our surroundings.. I hope that you are able to stop the parks dept., or at least come to a mutually beneficial agreement.
Good Luck.

Yet another Floridian signature. Just last yr I experienced what you guys are going thru now. We lost RC World.
It was not only a flying field but a flying neighborhood, with street names like crosswind blvd and inside loop.
They sold the land where we were flying for 20 yrs to build condos.
The 80 members had to go and find new fields to fly from.
Not a nice feeling. I last flew from there on Fathers Day last yr.
Good Luck, hopefully you don't loose your field like we lost ours.
