Wow, what an amazing response!!!
Thanks a lot to all for your support. As many of you mentioned, it could be any field, we are all a target
Also, some of you gave us some good ideas on other course of actions. And yes, this is not the only thing we are doing, we are working directly with the EBRPD and will be reaching the closer communities directly.
Again, thanks a lot and keep the signatures coming. I'll keep you posted on the outcome and also any learnings from this experience

Signed from Norwalk CT - FYI We also fly over what can be considered costal swamp land. We have worked with Sherwood Island State Park. We have worked extensively with both Park Management and our State Governing Body to ensure that we do not violate Wildlife and that we co-exist with other attendee's of the park (including the Bird Watching crowd).

The same could happen to us as well. I hope that our club would receive the same support
Best of luck to you!

I would like to thank people for the support of BARCS. The Bay Area Radio Control Society has been at the Breuner Marsh site for 35 years. We protect the land from illegal dumping, homeless encampments, drug cultivation, etc.; we are land stewards and paid tenants. This site is situated in Richmond California between the bay and the Union Pacific Transcontinental railway. There is a train every 30 minutes or so that passes throught. On one side is a dump, a shooting range, a motorway, and autowrecking yards on the other side there is a jail. Converting this land into a swamp is not going to make it pristine wilderness. At the present time there is an endangered species, the salt water mouse, many birds, frogs, foxes, snakes, etc. that co-exist and thrive with the RC airfield. They have thrived for the last 35 years we have been there. The park service plan to plow under all the vegetation, remove all non "native" vegetation, excavate the entire space, and convert it into a swamp, is not going to help the animals that live there at present. The park service also feels that radio control aircraft flying is "not compatible" with their vision of a park. I hope all the park flyer people hear and understand what that statement implies. According to EBPRD, RC aircraft are not compatible with a park.
Please support our effort to save the BARCS field. The nearest replacement fields are about an hours drive away.
Thank you
Art Wallace
President of BARCS

Signed by a Canadian, former parks board chairman, and occasional california snowbird. We have a slough/marsh across the road from our field and all birds, turtles, etc. Are oblivious to us. We occasinally have turkeyvultures join us in the sky.
Our float fly at another site, regulary has grebes, ducks, geese, fish going by down and across the water runway. Don't know what the problem would be.

Signed from Calgary, Alberta. Having been recently evicted from our City owned flying site and going through the difficult task of finding a new site I want to do whatever might help. A public relations campaign (the community - not just R/C pilots) where you can emphasize the economic and recreational benefit of a local flying club might also help. Good Luck!
