This is my project
BZM 50cc water cooled minimoto race engine to be installed in a custom chassis FG F1 car. It will have a 3 speed gearbox and a streamliner type shell
The engine weighs 10lbs and the chassis 16lbs. Add another 10 for everything else makes 36lbs or 16kg. Not bad for 18hp!
Cheers

2:1 weight to power ratio...not too shabby. That thing should be a blast to drive.

500 feet speed runs are cool, but put it on a track with timing equipment and see what it does.

Damn! I linked to page 2 of this forum so thought there wasnt any replies...LOL
Anyway....
It will have a custom made 3 speed gearbox. The final drive will be adjustable and I'll shoot for 125-150mph. I'll make my own fibreglass body and I hope to make a streamliner although it wont be so skinny. Nice 100mph run! Looks like it has loads left in it!
Welcome to the largescale club Nitro! Let me know what engine you are going to run in it. Good things are said about the MMR 70cc engine
Cheers

Nitro, you missread my post.. LOL I said welcome to the largescale club. I know you will be shooting for 100mph with your car. A 70cc motor will drop straight in but for top speed you will need a decent 2 speed. I would just enlarge the pulley on the layshaft to increase the gear ratio.
Best of luck and keep the pics coming
Cheers

How long is your track?? Are you guys running a scale 1/4 track??
How long is your track?? Are you guys running a scale 1/4 track??
The reason is, our club originally only ran 1/4 scale cars on the track for the past 20 years, but over the last 6 years, we have learned 1/4 scale cars and parts have gotten very expensive and harder to locate, so for us to continue to keep the club going opened up the track to 5th scales.
We kept it a 1/4 scale track because we still run them and we are more familiar with the stats and how hard it is to into the low 4 second ETs.
1/4 scale dragsters running 80 and 90cc motors on NOS run between 4.0-4.4 seconds at 90mph on the 330track.
Our 5th scales have come along way over the years, and now we are also running in the 4.3 to 4.4 second ETs at over 85mph on the same 330 track with nothing more then your 23-30cc motors with no juice.
No need for big CCs to go fast, just look up Chris Bartolone and order a beast of your own.

Thanks for your tip Speedypetey61!! I am exploring all options , setups etc for my search for speed. I would like to run my car on your track when I finish it if possible. Do you have to be a club member to have access to your track??

My 50cc has about the same power as the 70cc but a lot lighter. Mind you I need a radiator, water tank and pump...damn

Nitro
My engine revs to 18,900 but I suggest you will get the most torque around 14,500. my engine weighs 10lbs. wit the car and gearbox etc.. I think everything will be 36lbs.
The idea of a large scale drag club sounds great! I'll look at timing gear
Cheers

We welcome all and all kinds of large scale cars are able to compete..
Our cars are geared for the maximum performance on our track, hitting higher MPH is much easier then hitting a lower ET on the track, but as I said, pack up your cars and come'on down!!
