Default Foiling Mini40 Tri - My FireDragon Foiling

Hi all,
there was sufficient wind, so I decided to do my first foiling tests with the v-foils attached - flying is fun

Roland,
cool foiling action! congrats to a well designed foil assist mini40.

can you share some details on the foils? what is the weight position? How much from the aft (or front) is the foils mounted?
Is this video with sym or asym foils? What is the length of the profile, what the thickness? 10% or less? What is the length of the foil itself?28cm or longer? What angle from waterline are the foils mounted?

I am asking all these details as I am also trying to find a good foiling setup and I find it extremely difficult to find a good generic setup that would also fit for regatta (round course) scenarios.

Many thanks for sharing any details.
Eric

Hi Eric,

I'm using an asymmetric foils, the foils can be obtained from rcsails.com .

<xml><w:WordDocument><w:View>Normal</w:View><w:Zoom>0</w:Zoom><woNotOptimizeForBrowser /></w:WordDocument></xml>I could really use some help build that type of foil. I tried ten years ago and was not very successful. Mine had a float out front the sensed the water level and adjusted the foil angle. Any hints? Thanks Gerald - http://rcspeedsailing.com/index.html

The setup is very simple - I use fixed V-foils on my boat. No need to actuate while sailing, just a one time setting of the angle of attack (around 1 to 3 deg).
Hope this helped you.

Cheers
