Rent-a-flight, $50 a crack
Wouldn't it be neat if you could pay to fly let's say a twin turbine Sukhoi or something. Oh just to have a 4 minute go at it! What would you dream of having a go at and how much would you pay for it??
Let's see, 50 per flight on a 40% aerobat x 300 flights = :greedy:

A turbine!
Jason Somes told me he would put me on a buddy box at BITW this year but I could not go-
My dream would be a Turbine F-4 / Bandit/ or F-100
I would pay $100 for 5 minutes... cuz I will never be able to justify that expense..

Id love some stick time on a giant scale aerobat and a turbine as well, but these rates you guys are asking there is a real full size Decathalon piot who charges decent prices for rides in his plane

Hmmm ... wonder if I can apply the $100 per flight thing retrospectively ...?

Isn't there a temporary waiver for buddy boxing, thought I heard of something like that.

The interim waiver is a special way of getting your turbine waiver in which you are allowed to use your turbine powered aircraft to get your waiver. There are numerous restrictions - the aircraft has to be owned by the person on the slave side of the buddy box, and more importantly it can only be used on the run-up to an AMA sanctioned jet meet, assuming that the event CD permits it.
So, unless you are attending a jet meet that I'm running (and sanctioning with the AMA), and you are bringing your turbine powered model with you to do your waiver with on the day(s) just before the meet's official start date, this program does not let me put an unwaivered pilot on the buddy-box under the AMA rules.

JohnVH, next time you are in the Dallas area you should look me up. I'd love to get a little stick time on your Sukhoi. I love those how those planes look, just now how they make the bank account look (yet).

Ok I’m going to hijack this thread.
Hypothetical scenario. You live in a climate where bitter cold temps shuts down your flying for several months at a time. During the hibernation period of your birds you find yourself on vacation in a tropical paradise. Would you pay to rent stick time on an R/C plane for an afternoon? If so how much?
Maybe I should ask this question in February or March when folks are a little more desperate to fly.

How dare you hijack this thread to the original topic!
If I find myself in a tropical climate I'm probably gonna be SCUBA diving, sailing, swimming in warm ocean water and drinking foo foo drinks with umbrellas in them. I'll probably be paying for an expensive hotel room and have a limited amount of time so RC....hell no.

BasinBum, But you have the luxury of NOT having your flying season shut down for months at a time due to sub zero temps and accumulations of fluffy white frozen stuff.
For crying out loud can't believe I'm even thinking about winter already AGGGHHHH!!

I was spotting for a friend today who was flying his turbine. All of a sudden he asks if I want to try it and I said no I really don't like flying other peoples planes. He said don't worry about and handed me the TX.
You know what, they fly pretty easy. I only flew the pattern at half throttle and I'm sure landing is the hard part but it tracked really well, very smooth and easy.
The best part was I didn't have to pay $50!

Sdr,
I'll give you a serious reply. I seldom have the opportunity to travel to warmer climates during the long, cold, dreary days of winter, but when I (we) do, it's usually to a small island off the coast of Puerto Rico, or somewhere else Carribean.
My sister now lives in Florida, so maybe soon. Should I be in a locale with the opportunity to rent an RC aircraft, the type probably wouldn't be too terribly important. I'd guess a low wing sport type though. Something with SOME aerobatic potential.
I'd probably be willing to go $25 for a couple hours of stick time, but doubt I'd pay more than that. I might shell out the same $25 for a decent portion of a turbine flight (sans the T.O. or landing). $100, no way!
Dennis-
