Default Xerun 150A or Xerun SCT-Pro 120A for SCTE

Which would you guys recommend? I will mainly be running on 2S lipos with a Tenshock sc411 4000 or 4600kv motor. Will the 150A run fine with only 2S or is it better suited for running higher cell count lipos? Here are the two esc's:

The 80A would be fine, even for 3S. If you like to play safe, use the 120A, but a 150 for a 1/10th SC on a 550 is overkill. (I removed a dead link by the way, but don't worry everyone knows what these products are and where to get them).

Like Foxy said the 80A is fine for that. But yeah the Xerun system is very impressive for the price!!!

esc is around 125F (but it has a built-in fan... )

motor around 185F (now that i added the Integy dual cooling fans it stays around 130F)

i would like to be able to run without fans... i feel like fans only hide problems insted of fixing the problem.

Yeh I was just checking it wasn't the ESC getting hot, because a 120A esc shouldn't even break a sweat driving a 4000kv 540. But anyway yeh, you're overgeared for the motor. What car are we talking about?

The motor is a 4.5t 4000kv.
The car is a scte, and most people run a 15t pinion as far as i know.
Even with the 15t, i would like it to be faster !

I run a Castle 1410 4-pole with a 16t on 3S in a Jammin SCRT10, it's blazing fast and doesn't go over 165. Get yourself a 4-pole motor. If the castle is a bit pricy for you, get a Tenshock 410

Would make it run cooler, but a little slower. Definitely worth a try.

he he he 150a.... im running a 2wd Slash with a 35a ezrun and a 3900kv motor geared 23t/p 86t/s. damm thing hoots, and with the right tyres it wheelies on 2s. on 3s its just mental.... on 2s with high traction doesent even pull 90a on takeoff, and these 35a ESC can Burst up to 190a. so mine is well within the limits.
Only time its overheated the ESC is when the 3 year old fan failed

true for a 2wd slash that is fine seeing its just an extended rustler

4wd SCT that would probably fry

It's true that we have been brainwashed into believing motors pull more amps than they do, and that belief has been reinforced by manufacturers getting cheap on the FETs. Fact of the matter is, not many 540s can pull more continuous than 30amps, and not many 550s more than 40. Yet still we buy these 100A plus ESCs thinking we are buying 'peace-of-mind' if nothing else. Well, we are buying peace of mind, that's for sure, but 120A is massive overkill for any 1/10th applicatoin even MTs, so we are also wasting our money.

As I have posted in the past, the Castle MMP a well known good esc for anything 1/10th up to 6S, and most things 1/8th up to 4S (including Savage MTs, 15lb trucks), is only a 65A esc.

The point being, it is the quality of the design and components that maketh a good esc, not 'claimed' current handling.

So very true, some people even belive a high amp ESC is going to make there 1/10 buggy faster....

Was at the track when i first got my 5ive, there was a guy there with a 150a ezrun in his hyper buggy... it was a joke he had no idea, and it wasent even that fast

not arguing that
I use a 35A in 2 4wd tamiyas just fine. I ran a 60A 4000kv setup in the slash 4X4, and it got too hot for my tastes. I'm estimating the motor was somewhere around 140ish when it was cold out after 5 mins on flat paved ground. It might have been fine if I used a 3500kv motor with the 60A esc, but instead I went and slapped big ass ST rims on it with a pede chassis and converted it and dropped to a 3500kv 95Amotor with a 120a ESC.

Now I use the same 60A setup from the slash that was getting to hot for my taste in whats essentially an ofna SCRT10 with 1/8th scale buggy rims on it, and it hits 140ish after a full pack(30 or so minutes) on a 4000kv motor pretty much going full throttle through grass when it was warm out. Its just some setups require a lil more oomph so they don't get too hot IMO.

Really wish I knew what I did with my flash point thermometer so I could be more exact on temps [:@]
