RE: Traxxas Summit
Welcome to the friendly RCU forums wwit. Those Axial 8 hole rims will fit no worries, I have a set of the Axial 8 spokes and they are the same size.

RE: Traxxas Summit
Hey thanks guys for the insight on these. I did get an email back from Axial this AM confirming what you guys said, they will fit the Summit. I like the 8 spoke, but prefer these 8 holes to them...reminds me of the wheels on my old Jeep TJ.
And with the email, I discovered something interesting from Axial that I didnt know till now. Great Planes/Tower/Hobbico now own Axial. Another recent aquisition by them...must be doing something right i guess.

Any one tryed the Axial Oversize Beadlock 8 hole wheels? Part # AX8014 on a Summit?
Specs:
Outer Diameter: 102.21mm (4.024")
Width: 82.14mm (3.234")
Offset: 20.21mm (0.795")
Hex Adapter: 17.00mm (0.669")
I know, Ive seen the AX8042 Oversize 8 Spoke on the Summit. They have simular specs, so Im guessing they work with out rubbing on anything.
thanks
Todd
EDIT: I just emailed Axial to see what they say about weither they will fit for sure or not.

What do you guys think of this unboxing? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=baMdM3xNWeA&feature=plcp
In fact what do you guys think of unboxings in general? I know a lot of people think they are a complete waste of time but for some reason I like watching them.

RE: Traxxas Summit
My son and I took the Summit out hiking yesterday. Got it into a pretty funny position during some climbing.
I don't know how easy it is to see, but all 4 wheels are off the ground. Once we took the pic, the truck was able to keep going, we didn't have to pick it up.

I dont mind the unboxing vids...or realy any other "showing off my toy" vids either. As long as they have decent lighting and sound. Nothing worse than a earthquake shaking camera and sound sopoor quality or so low you cant hear them. Only other vids that I find highly annoying are the ones that play hardcore gangsta thug life RAP garbage.....even more so, if the song has the F word every other note.

RE: Traxxas Summit
Hey, sorry to interrupt, but I just would like to ask some quick questions. I've been running my Summit that I bought not too long ago, and it seems that everytime I charge the stock batteries that comes with it for at least 45-60mins, I only get at least 5-8mins of run time. Is there anyway or batteries available that can increase the run times or should I go brushless? And can the stock 16.8v ESC handle LiPos?

RE: Traxxas Summit
You can get these www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p. They'll last quite long. Also i don't know if your ESC has a LVC so i'm not gonna suggest Lipo's

RE: Traxxas Summit
Wow my stock nimhs ran for about 40 min when i first got them then about 30 after a month or 2. Id call traxxas and see if they would swap them for ya. Yes u can run lipos on the stock esc. Go back and read this forum and u will see what every1 runs in there summit and how they like them. Should be plenty of links to go to also to look at them.

RE: Traxxas Summit
The simplest way to get low voltage detection is to get one of the new ESCs although it is much more expensive. You do get the added bonus of keeping it waterproof though.
GTRice it does sound like those bats you have are just about had it, you can try cycling them a few times and they might get a little better but if I were you I would be going the lipo route. You can get some lipos made by SPC that will give you up to 2 hours run time. The EVX-2 handles 4S no problems and 5S as well but it gets a little more technical running 5S.
Here's a post made by LaTuFu with some good info about setting up a low voltage alarm.

My question is:What kind of charger are you using? It sounds like that could be the problem. If you're using a weak, cheap Traxxas EZPeak or something you plug into the wall then into your battery, that is definitely the issue. Those tiny little crappers need 8-12 hours to fully charge one of your batteries.
If you have a more powerful charger, I'd say you still need to charge them for a little longer.
