SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS FOR 12x
Which of the two is the better choice?
Selling off the weatronics and about to buy one of these module for my 12X but not sure which one.
Thanks Mario.

If # of channels matters, take a look at the software in your radio first. Can't speak for oversea's radios but, North American 12x MV will give you 12 channels with DSMx and only 8 with DMSS. This is because the DMSS module uses the PPM interface with the radio and in this mode only 8 channels are available. BTW, why are you selling off the Weatronics? This is the best equipment I've ever used, have converted all my jets to it.

Not sure of your intended uses or likes? Jets? BNF Product?
Modules can have some limitations in the 2.4 world all around, study it closely.

I didn't even think you could get DSMX in a module

SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS
Can someone explain the difference without getting too deep? I thought they both were hopping?
Thx,

I guess having only one receiver in an RC system isn't really like crossing the Atlantic in a single-engine airplane after all...

RE: SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS
JR DMSS is a completely different design to spectrum. Internally the RF front end is by Texas Instruments not Cypress. In fact the same RF front end as Weatronics for example. The RX has 2 complete RF sections for diversity on seperate identical PCB's. In principle these boards could have been sattelites like spektrum since they use a 4 wire bus as does the telemetry units.
The Ti chipsets have the ability to be truly FHSS in the sense they can maintain a very high rate of channel switches while using all the available channels. Sensitivity is 105DB as opposed to 96 for Cypress. A massive difference.
From a purely technical aspect in terms of technology used it is on par with weatronics and probably a slight edge on Futaba (which has a single RF front end with switching antenna).
Finally JR saw the light on Spekrum. Now I can happily be proud of JR again.
Make no mistake. This is by far better than anything Spectrum has to offer.

RE: SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS
Andre,
That’s a great bit of technical information. In simple terms, the new JR DMSS receiver has two receivers built into the one unit, similar to the Weatronics Rx.
I’ve been using a JR 10X on 36MHz for almost 10 years now. It’s been a great radio and has performed flawlessly, but the software is out-dated and it’s time to ‘hop’ onto 2.4GHz.
I just hope that JR will market a new high end 14-18 channel Tx on DMSS that doesn’t look like Darth Vader!

RE: SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS
Would anyone know:
1) Can one copy model program settings on the SD card from a JR 11X DSMX to the new JR XG11 DMSS? Of course one would need to check everything afterwards, but is such a copying process viable?
2) Is the RG1131B 11ch DMSS receiver of the powersafe type? If not, how is the power distribution on this receiver? Can it handle lots of high current drain servos (I'd suppose so)?
Thank you up front,

RE: SPEKTRUM-DSMX vs JR-DMSS
I have been using DMSS for nearly a year now with the XG8 and now the XG11.
I have flown it in lots of models ranging from electric aerobatic models, helicopters up to my Sprint & CARF Flash.
No issues at all, having said that I never had an issue with DSM2 either!
I test flew my Flash on the XG11 last Friday at Classic Jets and then used it at the Wings & Wheels model show all weekend, love it!
Next job is to put my 12s powered electric heli's onto it ready for the Euro Champs in 4 weeks time, again I foresee no problems.
