Default Budget Kit?

I have owned various rc,s and am more of a basher but does any body know of a good inexpensive kit that would be a good racer. I dont want to spend 1000 bucks to race just want to be a semi competitive.

Electric or nitro? Does it have to be RTR or are you really looking for a chassis kit?

I second an OFNA car for that budget. Good models, stand up to abuse, that's what you need for your early racing career.

You'll probably have to go 1/10 scale or smaller. I can't think of any 1/8 scale kits for $300

I think someone mentioned some earlier in the thread.....what was the name.......Oh heck idk but I think it started with an "O"? [&:]

To the OP, OFNA would be the best bet for your price range, but check the used market as well. I got an incredible Losi 8ight e of sorts for about $350 to hit the track running. If you could hold off just for a bit and bump your budget up a couple hundred more, you could have some of the best equipment available, used, and bought locally. $1000 is a good price tag for a good new kit, but if you know what to look for in terms of condition you can find a great ride second hand for less than half
