That's sweet!

Yeh I mounted my camera on the TX a few times and in the beginning I kept forgetting to try and point it at the car and shot lots of footage of my feet

has anyone here tried the hpi 5t paddles? they're taller but 10mm skinnier[&o] but may work better than the harder 5b paddles...
may even try and source some of these monster slicks again (had 4 when i had my fg and sold em...d'oh) and glue 5t paddle scoops to them

Awesome build! Looks to be pretty tough. Glad you got a vid up.

I have been throughsome hpi sand busters. They're definitely softer than the b paddles. Maybe5-6 tanks of bashing in a dirt pit had the paddles tore off and slicked. No gravel, rocks, or grass. Just sand, dirt, and a bit of clay. Not packed clay, but recently dozierd up clay.I'll link a vid of where. In the same placeI've been through several gallons on b paddles and they still look fine. I haven't tried the rc4 or whatever brand ones. They look reinforced better. Ain't tried clone ones either.

already got some pig trotters but they're way too heavy.

went out yesterday for another spin, ive preloaded the front end to get it higher and softened up the rear, also a better tune on the motor, this pit is just 2mins away from my house whole thing covers 81acres so there's oodles of hills to climb. apart from smackin a big rock and bending a front tube and having the steering go funky all was good, ran for about 25mins and made it up the hill 4 times...camera ran out after the first 5mins though so missed a lot of good stuff, i went back to my tx mount for the camera so you can see it this time.

so for xmas pressie from me to me a is going to be a set of rc4wd p5t paddles stretched on 5b rear rims and an OBR losi motor, the paddles are 25mm taller and have better scoops and only 4mm marrower than the hpi ones...and the motor has 45% more oomph at just where i need it so hopefully will have enough speed to get up some of the vert faces

the rc4wd paddles arrived today[8D] i mounted them on rear 5b 80mm wide desparados and used the 80mm blue excavator foams...they fit together like they were made for each other, didn't even have to stretch the tires . these are a lot softer than the hpi 5b paddles and the proline foams are a tad softer but taller than the rc4wd ones....now just waiting for the new obr losi full mod to come. i'll try the tires tomorrow then again with the the new motor with 40%more torque

Which glue did you use for that?

i was going to use the super thin CA glue...i've used it to repair split tires before with 100% success rate, you can also use rubber cement that tire repair shops use....both work as long as the rubber is clean and slightly scuffed with sandpaper

Hi Moo,

I simply adore your build and just love the Hurrax.  I have been building my 1:4 for some time now.  I have been looking for the correct input shaft drive type diff and have just found a German manufacturer called Carbon Fighter.  Pretty much the same layout as the Hurrax.  Complete cars start at 349 Euro for 2WD and 399 for 4WD.

I am planning on using the center and 2 end diffs.    Here is a link for the German Site.  Soon I shall be getting them in and I have also got a brand new Toro 106-3956 gearbox ass which the store wont take back, so I have to find some use for it too.

Thanks for posting such a super build and for the inspiration.

Glenn.  UK - former South African.

no link

glad my build has inspired you to do the same, , post up your project when you get going.

update:

obr 30.5 fullmod losi motor installed, hope to get out this weekend and see how it goes.
I'm also looking to make my own diff cases to take the centre rampage diff and spool both front and rear....the rampiggly centre diff is a lot more compact and absolutely bomb proof so reckon i can turn up the diff boxes and use steel axle tubes and knuckles, also think i've figured the steering method/linkages for a soild front end...when i have time that's my next task

Sorry buddy.

Heres the link

The plastic cases can be upgraded to cnc'd ally ones too. Just thought I'd give it a go for the price.

Cheers

nice build man!!!! Congrats!!!
I was hoping to find somewhere foff style tyres like sand paw but in size 3.8in. Do you know if something like that exist? I would like to use it on any 17mm hex rims.
Your car is an inspiration to me and others too!!!!

the losi paddles are 40 series..i've a set here but they were too small for this build...wide too..just wish they'd come out with an MT sized 1:5 paddle...

ran the new motor for about 2 mins so far, even running 1/4turn rich it has more giddy up than the old 2 bolt and i fit ever stops raining here i'll head to the hill .

a Mk2 is in also the brainbox, with the help of a buddy in the industry i'm working on getting some 1/5th scale solid axles into production, hope to have some prototypes before the end of the year to try out and figured the best durability test would be achieved on the receiving end of an OBR 61cc twin in a new chromemoly chassis and now Sean is tuning for nitrous maybe an oddified wet kit

Plans are awesome, 61cc + nos!!!!!
I was thinking myself of starting unique upgrades to rc chassis and arms etc as I have experience in CNC with aluminum. But now being laid off in factory I haven't got access to CNC machine. But I have software at home for designing.
MT foff tires 1/5 scale would be a dream.
I had a look at losi and I cant find paddles fitting savage or emaxx 1/8 scale al least on their website.
Is there something else in circulation on different websites?
I know of proline paddles but I would prefer something more like real foff tires in 1/8 or 1/5 scale.
Cheers.

now the rain has come and killed the dust it's time to go see the hill...

after a close shave with non mixed gas motor is now tuned to go 100%, also managed to space some hurrax c and d gears to go from 25/25 to 23/27[8D] so now have 25/35 23/27 low as you go..does about 20mph flat out but gets there instantly and great holeshot which is what it needs.

did a bit of body work with some plastic/pvc?? signs

was looking to get alloy solid axles done but cost prohibitive at the moment so have figured a way to make em from good ol steel so i can weld the tubes on to a split centre case...spools front and rear...my winter project

i went back and re spaced the gears so the 23 is more centred

i bought some video glasses so footage to follow

Still speechless.  I am keen to see the axle your talking about my good man.  I WILL promote them here in the UK and procure a set 4 me.  Would you concider sharing plans on this unique JEEP spaceframe - No hard feelings if u wish not to devulge.  I think I'd get u loads of interest here for this with CARBON FIGHTER drivetrain - cost less than HURRAX.    Cheers
