Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
Hi All,
I am converting my HPI Blitz to a rally car, and am looking for the 1/8 Kyosho Subaru body. I have looked on Ebay, and have asked on a couple of other forums, but no one answered. I have had good luck in the past when I asked questions on this forum, so I decided to ask here.
If the Subaru body is a bust, does anyone know if the WR8 body by HPI is available?
Thanks for your help.

why a Subaru body WRXguy64
I'm not too sure a 1/8 body will fit on a 1/10 car, the wheel base will probably be all out of whack.

With the name like WRXGuy, you wouldn't expect me to be looking for a Ford Focus, would ya? LOL
An 8th scale body will fit on a 1/10 HPI Blit Short Course truck. We run 1/8 late model bodies on them all the time.

RE: Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
Kyosho Inferno GT Impreza WRC body will fit on a slash 4x4 with no modification. I'll look at the wheelbase, otherwise, there are various european manufacturers of 1/8th scale bodies.
I think the WR8 is closer to 1/9th scale like the kyosho DRX (Which I will own tomorrow )
Edit:
Inferno GT8
Blitz:
2WD is a different size than 4wd often.. the sizes and modifications will probably be up to you.

I actually looked at the DRX just a few minutes ago. I looked at the Body dimensions, and think I can make it work on my Blitz.

What would you recommend? I'm building something to use at my camp. It's rough terrain, so ground clearance is important, which is why I thought the Blitz would make a good vehicle. I can't run nitro at camp so whatever I build has to be electric.

If you like rallying there are some rally raid bodies that would fit..
Otherwise look around and see what else is there or just modify something that's close.

In my eyes it will not look nice with a body 260 mm wide on a chassi close to or over 300 mm wide. And the bodies for WR8 are even more narrow, i think it has a width of around 230 mm.

Yeah, I've come to the said realization that the Blitz is going to be put up on Ebay because the only body that would fit, is no longer available, and no one that owns one wants to get rid of it. Can you folks recommend a good 1/10 chassis to use for a rally conversion? I looked at the DF03ra, but there isn't enough ground clearance for the terrain I plan to run on. I've looked at DF02 buggy chassis, and a couple other buggy chassis, but not sure which chassis would work.
Thanks
Thanks

I have a DF03Ra and a DRX, and I will hopefully trade my F103 for a Slash this week.
Tamiya (Kits):
XV01 - Newest belt driven rally kit ~$300
DF03Ra - One of the best purpose built rally chassis. Based on the DF03 buggy. (I have one) ~ $185
M05Ra - Based on the M05. Still a purpose built rally car, but FWD and M-Sized ~ $110
DF01 - Slightly outdated, more ground clearance. Based on a TA01/TA02. ~$190
TT01 - Can be fairly easily converted, with some possible issues. ~ $120
Rally Legends:
1 Chassis, various bodies (Stratos, Fiat, etc..) $250 last time I looked. RTR
Thunder Tiger:
1/8 Scale Mini Cooper WRC. Electric, RTR ~$580
Kyosho (Prices RTR):
DRX - Gas powered 1/9 Rally Cars. ~ $290
DRXve - Electric Version ~$600
Fazer Rally - Electric 1/10 Rally ~ $190
HPI (Used):
RS4 Rally - Electric 1/10 Belt rally car. You need the dirt protect for the belt. Its outdated and no longer made, but you can still find used ones. ~ $150
Traxxas (RTR):
Mini Rally - Not really a rally car, but with some mods it can be based on the fact its based on the same chassis as the mini slash etc. ~ $250
Slash - Proline sells a rally raid style body for it, 1/9 Kyosho Inferno bodies fit, there is a GT conversion kit availiable. ~ $200
Duratrax (RTR)
Vandetta Rally - EP 1/18. Not all that good offroad. ~$60
Team Associated (RTR)
RC18R - EP 1/18. Same chassis as SC18, RC18, but not all that good offroad stock.
Ofna:
Ofna Dirt oval cars and on road cars can be modified to have enough ride height to be ideal rally cars.
Conversions
Most chassis can be converted to rally. It mainly depends on how sturdy they are, their ride height, and dirt protection. Many short course truck can be converted to rally cars.
(Yes I have too much time on my hands and made this list. I can update it if you want)

RE: Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
WOW, thanks for that list!! I have an HPI Sprint 2 Drift, an Ofna JL10e drift, an HPI Blitz, a Redcat Nitro Lightning, and an RC10L. Both drift cars are belt drive, and not good candidates for an offroad vehicle. I considered the Lighting, but can't run a nitro car at camp. If I could find a GT1 body, I'd do the Blitz because it is a rugged chassis, and was designed for the terrain I want to run on.
What about a Tamiya DF02? They are pretty reasonably priced, and plentiful.

RE: Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
I'm selling the Blitz as a roller for $75 without servo, $100 with. I could put an HPI brushed system in it and get more for it, but not many people want brushed stuff these days. It has a new gear diff, and come with 10 tires and wheels, including the four that are on it. They are Hole Shots, Goosebumps, and Double Dees. It is a full out race truck. It has a body, but the body is pretty beat up. Like I said; If I could find a Subie body to fit the Blitz, I'd keep it.

What would it take to convert a Losi XXXT to a rally? I just happened to score one, and have a killer Monster Energy Subaru body.

Not sure what to scale is, but I would like the wheels to be tucked under the body. I'm using my 1/10 Monster Energy Subaru body on it. I also have a 1/10 Kyosho buggy,. Both are 2wd, but it's just a fun vehicle for camp.

RE: Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
Is there a way to change the wheelbase if it isn't right?
Also, what would be a good brushless system to use on it? I'm not looking for the kind of speed I have with my HPI Sprint 2 Drift. That has a Castle 7700kv motor in it, and that would be too much power for what I am looking for. I'm looking for a reliable, kind of snappy, motor for it. I'll be using a Hobywing Smart Sense ESC in it, and don't care if the motor is senored or sensorless.
Thanks for all your help. This forum rocks!

RE: Looking for 1/8 Subaru Body.
10-17t... are you using LiPo?
The XXX-S arms might fit on that chassis and if you reverse them you could make the wheelbase fit.. I dunno, don't have a XXX based car.
