RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
In the UK they are asking 30,000 people to stay away from the qualifying day of the Grand Prix because the parking area is waterlogged. Funny thing I have A/C in the car perhaps a snorkel would have been a better option. It has at least stopped raining and there are only occasional heavy thunder showers predicted.

I have been watching Wimbledon the past couple of weeks and have seen the rain delays in London.
We need the rain and you don't. Funny how the grass is always greener, or wetter, on the other side.

One thing this thread shows is that it doesn't matter where you are in the world - people are people! We all love to complain about the weather! Too hot, too cold, too wet, too dry, too windy! Great to see that modellers everywhere are united in their weather watching! I'd love to send some of the wet cool weather we have here in the UK over to the States - as long as you send some of that sunshine back in payment! [8D]

I live in South Florida and never fly large planes and jets during the summer. My favorite time to fly is from September through May.
Can't stand the heat .

RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
Up here in Denver we've been 90+ for two weeks now. I fly at 6000ft msl and the density altitude has been killing me! I have to fly my little electric Cessna at full power just to maintain altitude so it only lasts 5 min a flight. Not to mention the takeoff roll has been doubled which gives me lots of time to wreck Think I'll wait for a little cooler temps...

I didn't fly all last summer...hottest on record. This summer not as bad, but I want to fly. White t-shirt, shade trees and lots of ice water. We gotta do what we gotta do. Hide from the sun when you are not flying.

Haven't flown since January, The heat, Humidity, and not to mention the constant wind every day are just to much for me this year, Just to much trouble to load everything up to get to the field at the crack of dawn and only get a couple hours in before the heat and humidity becomes unbareable. Plenty of time to fly in the fall.

After the rain comes the clean up, this is the normal surface water that runs past my place when it rains, what would you rather have rain or sun?

Today the high will be 108 deg F. (42.2 C)
Right now it is 101. I usually do not fly if it is at or above the mid 90's. Low 90's is a maybe.
Last year we had hot weather up to the end of August but then the weather got really nice from Sept through Oct and it made up for the bad summer. It seems once you go through a heat wave people tend to hang it up for the year and you have to encourage them to come out and fly.

Its not so much heat for me in Utah right now (90s) but the fire danger is pretty scary. The only turbine flying I have been doing is out on the Salt flats. With half the state in flames I dont want the liability till we get some rain.

Its been 103 to 105 here a little south of chicago ,i dont like flying in the heat and worce yet its so humid.I worked 29 years as a boss for a carpenter crew around chicago and i have never seen it this bad.If i were still running my crew i would let them either work or stay home ,its not worth anyone keeling over just to get a house done. As for me i enjoy building just as much as flying so i have been building and gathering more plans to build soon. Its supose to start cooling down to the 80's here by monday but i still worry about our poor farmers and no rain for their crops here. I wish all my fellow flyers to be carefull out there and stay cool. joe

It's cooking here in Chesapeake, Virginia. Yes, stopped me from flying. We had our club mtg at the field today at 1100. Doing nothing but sitting I went through 3 water bottles.

The heat has not stopped me from flying, but close to it. If I make it to the field, I usually wait until late in the afternoon and
then only a flight or two.I have even gotten some work done on my Telemaster!! Keep hydrated or stay at home!

No way Jose, winds over 15 will stop me from flying but heat, no way. Just pack a cooler and a towel.
I just read today that high humidity combined with high temperatures will increase the stall speed[X(]

RE: Has the extreme Heat stopped your flying
I went flying today in far West Texas out in the desert, my engine flamed out, my ass flamed up, so I went home sitting on a bag of ice while driving...
