Tim,

Very nice! Looks great and sounds great. Hard to beat a WAY cool Mustang to get the adrenaline flowing.

It does, however, beg the question . . . . . You have a Blue Nose Mustang, you have a" Miss America" red, white, and blue Mustang . . . . . WHAT COLOR MUSTANG WILL BE YOUR NEXT ACQUISITION?? :-)

Well you will soon find out that the blue nose was lost to a bad battery pack this eveningtotal loss, I think the motor may be ok. My fault really, I suspected the battery wasn't up to snuff before taking off, saying to myself it will be ok for one flight. "WRONG" should have grounded it, but I was to eager to get in a flight and show her off. I was lucky no one was hurt and it crashed in the trees. I had a used 4.8v 2000MA pack kicking around that I put in it last night after charging it and it turns out it had a bad cell in it I was setting up for a landing because I noticed the battery voltage had dropped from 5.2 down to 4.8 in a short time, full flaps andboth electric retracts plus I had another servo that operated the radiator scoop that worked with the flaps all at the same time were just more than it could handle.( Five servos)

Oh well I will stick with the miss America

JustinIS a very good instructor.

In speaking with Jeff, he said that he had bought/traded/bartered two additional trainers ( for a total of 3 ) to have on hand, as backup reserves,to support him in his quest for his wings.

Wonder if he will be having a yard sale now. . . .

Congratulations to Jeff and to Kyle!

I think it is safe to say that Kyle will be a better pilot than us all, I would have no reservations letting him take my yak up. LOL.

Re: Kyle

When I think back to what was available when I was Kyle's age. . . . .

RC was not even thought of; choices were free flight or control line.

All models were stick built, but the glue fumes were more fun back then. . . . . .

Tissue paper covering was painted with DOPE.

A 36" wingspan was a large airplane.

Power was rubber band or .049 engines with fuel tank affixed to the back. They took two days to get them started; frigging with glow plugs, 1.5 volt dry cells with aligator clips for the glow, carb adjustments, bad fuel, low compression ( at least mine), and cut fingers from prop kickbacks.

Once started, they would run only long enough to get you DIZZY , if flying on a control line

Just wish I had not left the hobby for more years thanI want to think about. I am sure others have more interesting rememberances.

Oh . . Did I forget to mention the 2 mile walk to school . . . uphill both ways . . Through deep snow drifts?

Dave, thanks for the trip down memory lane, when I go there I have to be careful or I take a wrong turn and get lost for hours.

Hope to see ya at the field this weekend.

Got my Decathlon almost ready for the water. need to do an engine test and check the balance on it. should be ready to go tonight.

All I will need now is a place to fly, the beach I usually fly at is good in spring and fall when no one is swimming, but in the summer forget about it.

Its been so long since I flew off water I am excited to get a float plane back together

The Propsnapers have a Float fly schedueled in September.

Float Fly: Sep 15-16th. ( Kiwanis Beach )

Nice Steve,

I have been wanting to fly the rearwind speedster, I just changed the motor and it needs a shake down flight.

I think we could go to Sabatus Lake, Dick D. and I fly there some times and its not bad. We will need a boat, I cant fit my kyak and plane in the truck. Do you have a rack on the subaru?

Hey Tim

Yes I have racks on my plane hauler and a Kayak to use for retrievals.

I did a little test on the water at Bob Simon's Camp tonight, I think the floats need some adjustment. possibly just add another degree of incidence to get the plane to lift off with out riding the backs of the floats so much. I'll be at Trainer night tomorrow. we can set something up then

Sat. around 9 AM at the public launch on Sabatus Lake Sounds good.

A no rain dance?

I will do some tinkering tonight on the floats I need to shim up the front mount to help it get lift from the wings, I think I will make 2 shims 1/8 thick so if one is not enough I can easily slide in another one

also I have to open up the cowl for some more cooling for the G20 it is running a bit to hot.
