Speed Junkie Rev Bro #118 checking in. Still breathing. Was lurking and happen to see a pic of our new mascot. I have a renewed interest in flying again. Did we rent that, buy that or build that? When will the stickers of THAT be ready to apply on my SPEEDY? Razor, Vicman and Flyboy Dave I miss the good times.[X(]

I'm mostly the glowfuel/gas guy in our field but my only plane for speed is electric. So far my best speed with Bushnell radar gun is 123 mph on level flight.
New engine and controller are now in with a 8.75x14.5" prop. I want more.
WS 43.3", weight 1600gr. This is intended for pylon racing originally. It flies very well and has very good speed and fast cornering characteristics.

Thanks vicman.
I have a question. Where can I find fixed pitch props for speed in the range of 8,5" to 10" in diameter and pitches over 12,5" ?
No folding props. Not my thing.

Hi Guys! Have been away from the forums for a while. Getting ready for my winter build. I have aquired a couple NIB YS 45 RF's ( rear exhaust ) and am going to highly modify a Lanier Shrike.
I would like to know how much power and RPM the YS 45 will put out and how far you can "push" this engine on smaller props. I will be running a Macs 7.5cc nitro pipe and plan on running a APC 9x8 prop for starters and go from there. This engine looks like a brute and should handle some high figures. I am going to run straight Powermaster 20/20 or 10/22.
I am a believer in Castor but am reading this is OK with the YS as longs as you run the engine dry at the end of every session to keep the pump diaphram from gumming up.
I have ran a lot of K/B 7.5cc and Nelsons but no RE Nelsons i.e. FAI 40. Too much "jack" for this guy. I don't need $500 to put another hole in the ground. It is chaeper to buy a shovel at Walmart for $15.99 for putting holes in the ground.
I think this YS will get me into the 160+ with ease just looking for some hints and tips from all you great speed gurus with YS 45's.

Should be a pretty nice setup with a bladder style tank running that kind of direct pump pressure straight to the tank and not via the muffler/pipe.

Not dead or even that much older Speedy.
It's just that RCU has sucked so badly of late I just don't have the patience to deal with it anymore. I come in, see if there is anything I care about and usually move on afer looking at one or two threads.
Sorry, I can't speak from experience on the YS amigo.
And before some genius tells me it is how my computer is set up, it works fine on 99.9999999% of everything else I do and it used to work fine here. Simple math is that it's an RCU problem.

Ok...Ok... Ok.... I deserved that one Vicman. [:'(] I am going to go out on a limb here. I just checked the crack in my crystal ball and it revealed that my calendar is open for the 2013 Speedy Thing! Will there be a 2013 Speedy Thing? All I have flying at the moment is my pulse detonation Super Cobra. I'm all in Vicman![>:] You can stop flinging the poo!

Thanks vicman.
I have a question. Where can I find fixed pitch props for speed in the range of 8,5'' to 10'' in diameter and pitches over 12,5'' ?
No folding props. Not my thing.

RE: Speed Freaks Wanted- Over 200 Members already !
I took a 55 mph Airfield P51 and modified it to fly 130 mph+. Still adding more speed.
Current setups being used are:
P51 Top Speed so far - 132.4 MPH
- Motor - Scorpion 4025 - 740
- Battery - 4000 5S and 4000 3S run in Serial for an 8S setup
- ESC - Castle ICE 100
- Prop - APC 11 x 10
- Flying time 4 .5 minutes
Eventually I plan on adding a Castle HV 150 or 200 amp to the Mustang to make a run on 10S. Prior to performing this test I will be cutting all the control surfaces off and reattaching with fiber tabs. Other airfrane modifications performed are:[*]Single Wing Modification with additional Carbon rods added[*]Battery compartments and additional battery trays added[*]Control horn upgrades[*]Fiberglass added where wings join in center[*]Paint and light 20 minute epoxy coat[*]Stock motor mounts redrilled to accomidate new motors[*]Firewalls rebuilt to withstand additional torque[*]All servos replaced with Steel gear servosLatest Flight videos:P51 132.8 mph Flight
