all i can say you better beef up the T33 airframe i really dont think it can handle the extra power from the BVM set up , you might get away with 10s but 12s might push the airframe , after all , is a foam yet my bud flys an BVM Electra on 12s and his easyly doing 200 mph plus , just something to think about foam is not as good as fiberglass unless the fuse is mixed in Carbon fiber .

Post #30 shows several photos of my Lander 120mm installation. I would expect the BVM system to be similar size.

You could test the system on 10s and see if you come close to my 4000 watt setup. It would be a good start and provide more power than you will need...even off grass.

Good luck!

Thanks guys-10s with the EVF2 would be the way to go, maybe with some CF cloth to beef it from the inside.

I had this EVF2 in a 22 pound NTech F9F Panther, but just not enough power for it. Its got a cut down dynamax rotor, so would sound incredible in the T33 i suspect. Do you think the intakes would be big enough?
Thanks again...

My T-33 has a 120mm DF in it. Did you watch the video off grass in post #123 or the maiden flight off pavement in post #109?

All you need is a bell shaped opening to flare into the side walls and you'll be all set.

Just checked it out-thanks Greg. Your T-bird T33 looks and flies great! I think I'll give the T33 a try...

Was there supposed to be a PC covered version coming out? Can't find info on it...

I friend taped our T-33 take-off from grass at a local R/C show a few weekends ago. I had one of the gear mains disconnected for repair but the T-33 still flew and sounded great! Since my pack capacity is only 3.6AH, I place the T-33 at the end of the runway instead of taxiing it out.

My stock inrunner blew out so I replaced it with the Turnigy [link=http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewitem.asp?idproduct=19111]SK3[/link] Fandrive motor which I detailed a few pages back starting in Post #60. The power increase was very noticable and we had a great flight as shown in the video below. I hit the wrong button on the video camera and lost some sound on the taxi out.

Here is the Castle Data Logging from my flight with the new Turnigy SK3 Fandrive motor. The power level is about 5300 watts at 130 amps using normal timing with my two 6s Turnigy 3.6AH packs. Cruising speed was about 2800 watts at 64 amps. The flights are a short 2.5 minutes with 20% left in the pack.

I may change the timing to low since I have more power than needed and buy some bigger packs. I think the T-33 is easily capable of handling more weight.

This is an update information of our new rubber tires for brake system. Those are come with two sizes 2.75 & 2.5 inch.. Yesterday I have done the test of those performance with our T-33 . During the testing, It can be let the brake system function perform very well and better than PU foam tires version. The following is the link for sharing with you.

Hi Tim,

The new rubber tires look great! They should handle the weight of the plane much better on those not so perfect landings. The breaking system is a must have option for short paved runways.

On my grass field landings, the T-33 slows up nicely without brakes.

Best Regards.

Here is a short HD video of the T-33 take-off, roll, and landing on grass. With no wind, it floated in nicely on full flaps!

Here is another video of the T-33 on a brighter day flying in Canandaigua, NY in the Finger Lakes Region. This time, Lynn Bowerman took the sticks. The landing was a bit hard, but not bad, because we had only half flaps. Normally, we have been using half flaps for take-off and full flaps for landing.

Here is the Data Logging from the last flight. Most of it was spent cruising around at about 1400-1500 watts. I changed my ESC timing from Normal to Low so we'll see what the take-off power reads on the next flight.

Looks awesome Greg. I'm happy to see a jet take off and land from a grass field without issue. Looks like you have the LG/retracts ironed out.

Thanks, Joe. You definitely need the right combination of power, weight, wing-loading, and wheel size for taking off grass. The vintage design T-33 had some real wheels under it.

Regards.

For takeoff when the EDF still deliver it's massive static thrust it goes better then the turbine version, while in the air you nitice very little diffrences.

Flew flight number five today. On landing the right plastic wheel hub came apart on a soft landing. The wheel came off the plastic hub since it broke apart. Wondering if there is a better hub available that will work withy this set up. I have tried severl manufactures but the inner gear door will not close correctly. The other issue is the right retract will not extend all the time. I have to tap the retract with a screw driver several times than it will work. I can not tap the retract while in flight. Any suggestions what needs to be done. Possibly a bad circut board. Max told me I have the new generation retract. Not sure they have been fix correctly at this point. Other than that, a great flying plane.

We have metal hub tires, with or without the RCL Brake System that should work. ALSO if you have a problematic Retract Unit return immediately for replacement. You know we protect our buyers from factory defect. We now have only the latested updated versions that are showing greater reliablity. These can be identified easily as they have only 3 screws on each side plate and not 4 screws on each side plate as the original versions did.

I saw Greg's T33 fly at the Noon Demo at the Neat Fair this weekend. To say it was impressive is an understatement! The grass runway is pretty thick there and the plane had no problem getting airborne. It was also pretty windy and the model handled it well. Seeing pictures of the model doesn't give you a true feel for the size it, in person this thing is huge! But to me, what was most impressive was the sound, it didn't have the typical high pitch whine of an EDF, but it had a fabulous 'whoose' sound that was incredible! Oh yeah, it was also fast! Great job Greg!

Thanks guys! I could relax and just watch it go with Team Futaba's Devin McGrath on the sticks. I'm always surprised that there are not more EDFs in the noontime demos.

I'll post some photos and video of the T-33 at NEAT soon...

Greg, how is that SK3 Fandrive working? Have you tried it on low timing yet, if so how much current/watts? I burned my 830KV inrunner up on the first flight with my original Lander 120mm. I have a SK3 in shipment from China. I am using the fan in a Yellow A4 and the original motor powered it very nicely until the pilot turned the smoke on LOL. had to dead stick it in the grass but got away with no damage. I tried to buy a Leopard 4475-830KV from Leopard but they no longer make it with a 6mm shaft so, I'll try the SK3 and bore out the shaft to 8mm.
