Default HPI Apache C 1

My new Apache with better tires and a Mamba Monster esc along with adjustable camber and toe links. Longer front driveshafts (92mm), stock motor and gearing for now. It stands right up when you hammer the throttle on 4s, stock tires are just too small IMO. It looks much better or more to scale to me with these which are 3.2"Revolver Stablemaxx rims with 2.8" Imex Baja's installed. Tires end up being 5.5" tall with trimmed Ofna foams inside, it weighs 10# without the battery lol, no lightweight but it should take a good pounding.

Anyone else pick one up yet?

Thanks T9, not much runtime on it yet but if it ever cools off here some I'll run it and see what it's got. These 100 degree temps are hard on this old man lol...

To be honest I'm not crazy about those chrome rims, but everything else looks great. Do you have a video of it?

I like the Imex Baja tire. I ran that tire on my Stampede when I had it, really nice tire. Imex's website is horrific of course, awful design. But nice tires.

For the price, Imex makes some decent stuff. I actually did a review on one of their tires a while back: http://www.modelkits.com/radio-contr...es-review.html

Those rims/tires are someI had on hand to try out, I ordered a set of black chrome Desperados' and a set of Badlands to run on the Apache but I like chrome over black anyway. Personal preference but the main thing is the improvedtraction and handling and a little more ground clearance also. The stock tires just aren't up to the task for the weight and power this thing has IMO...

I don't know if Imex is going to make rc tires anymore, you can't find them anywhere. Glad I bought a few sets when they were available...

Got the Desperados and Badlands mounted up and took it for a spin, awesome traction now. The roost isimpressive under power lol, handles great and on 4s still with stock gearing the motor temp got up to 152 after 20 minutes or so of thrashing in the short grass. These tires are nearly 6" tall so top speed should be in the low 40's. I put some 120k fluid in the center diff to cut down on the front tire ballooning under acceleration and that did the trick. So far I'm happy with the performance gains from the larger tires,it needs them IMO.

I'll get up some new pics soon...

Update, I installed the RC Monster Hot Bodies D8 motor mount and aMamba Monster 2200kv motor, you have to slightly modify the receiver box screw boss removing some material to make room for the motor shaft but it's an easy install. Nice strong mount with easy adjustment for pinion/spur lash. Haven't ran it yet but I'll get some more info and pics up this weekend....

Looks nice and I bet it is speedy too! I personally would put some blacked out rims and slightly more scale tires on it, but it's your truck, so do what you want! Are you running 4s?

Yes running 4s, seems to be plenty of power for what I do. The new motor definitly is stronger than stock and it handles good. Great traction with the larger tires, handles the rough stuff much better. I would have prefered 2.8s over the 3.8s but for what I wanted the field is limited, not into the black on black thing. I like some chrome for contrast, just personal preference. So far I'm happy with the results, it rocks lol....
