Hi Dave...

I intend to use a sequencer from Oregon Scale Aviation called the "MicroGear Ultra" and is very well built, right here in the USA.

The instruction manual can be downloaded so you can see exactly how it operates and is a very simple unit to use. It supports up to 4 servos (mains, staggered gear, doors and tailwheel) through your retract switch.

Just an FYI guys, more motor boxes for the electric version arrived today. These should get processed and be ready to roll out by end of week. I will let you know. If you are wanting one I would get it on back order and it will ship in no time.

@ xxspeed, PM me an email address and I can send you my program file. The sequencer is all set up in mine and you can just copy it over. It would be a long post to explain it. I think if you had it in your radio you would then be able to pick it up pretty quick.

Thanks John...I have been making some progress with the sequencer have two sevoes moving at differnt times..have to look harder at the screen for the door points. also plan on clam shell tail wheel door. will send pm....Thanks dave

Post (question) for John Redman...

Hi John...

I am attempting to duplicate your detail work on the cowl by cutting the cowl flap slits out as you described in your post. How did you keep from cutting into the cowl mounting blocks glued into the cowl when you did this? I noticed that several of the blocks are aligned with the cowl slits and I don't want to damage them.

Hi Curt.

When you cut the cowl slits,just have a steady hand with the Dremel.....When I was cutting mine,I forgot about the mountings....luckily,I only just caught one with the disc!!! Have a look at the cuts I did with mine on page 13.
I also cut away the lowest part of the lower cowl flaps at the bottom of the cowl.

Citing is very easy,just have to take your time....the result is well worth it.

I ended cutting into a couple of the mount blocks. I did not cut all the way through them and it has not been a problem.

Thanks, John... that's what I ended up doing as well.

Just as a quick aside it turns out that both Ron101 and I are short an electric motor mount for our models. Seeing that some more have arrived is there any chance you could ring customer support for us and make sure we get one? I called them last week and was supposed to get a return call but never did. Both Ron and I received the battery tray parts but not the motor mount parts.

Trust all your builds are going well and all the items for the "elecrtic conversion" are delivered............hope we can see some photos of the "electric-builds" ????? So are there any "Maidens" coming up soon ???

I have just completed my U/C and sequencer installation on the P-47,I know John has shown some photos very early on in this thread,with regard to the "Inner Gear Doors,but I thought I would add a little to this....
I fly a JR set,but use Spektrum Rx's on all my aircraft.........so I don't have the advantage of the DX18 with it's built in sequencer,I opted for the "Jet Tronics" Door Sequencer.As I use a Spektrum Rx on the P-47,you will have to use a "signal amplifier" in order to get the Jet Tronics sequencer to "work" with Spektrum Rx's.
For the Main Gear,I purchased the pnuematic H9 P-47 units ( new type arrived a couple of weeks ago....after John had noted that I was using the "Razor-Back" version...which as John knows will not fit in the 30cc P-47).I then re-converted the pnuematics to LADO Actuators ( plug and play and are programmable with staggered delays if you want to use that feature ).For the inner door servo I used "ALIGN DS 415M" servos........very small and plenty of power available.

I decided to re-cover both the outer and inner gear doors with the same covering ( silver) that was used on the fuzz..........I thought that the colour match was not quite right for me.Not an easy task to do,especially as I'm pretty new to the covering scheme of things.......first attempt ok......well I think !!!

Sequencer was a bit of a brain drain ( well for me at first !! ),but works very well and setting the thows on the servo for the inner doors was pretty easy.........the other timings are just by trial and error.

These are my photos,so I hope they will be of help to somebody ???

The next post,I will show the links for my Sequencer testing.........just a little more "hot-forming of the doors,to get a good seat and next to try and work out a way of slowing down the inner gear door servo. ( assuming that the signal from the sequencer will allow this to be done???? ANYBODY TRIED THIS YET ???

Wheels are the "Robart 8 spoke 5" dia".............pretty heavy at 240gms !!!

Actuators appear to be doing ok,even though you hear the tone change...........speed does not !!! I have left the timing for the inner gear door closure to allow for wind and a bit of "g".

Hi everyone,

I have a Saito 57 twin 4 stroke that I would love to use in this aeroplane but the cylinders are a bit wide for the cowl. Has anyone ever run a twin 4 stroke vertical? It will fit if I can run it top to bottom but Im worried about it running properly. However, Ive seen 4 strokes run upside down and upright so who knows... Any suggestions??

Hi Carl.

I'm not sure that you will be able to fit the 57 in the cowl ( even top to bottom ).......looking at the 57 dimensions,the overall height ( or width ) of the outer top of each cylinder to cylinder is 232mm,therefore you will need at least half of that to fit in a vertical position.
Just took some basic dimensions of my cowl on the H9 P-47,together with where the crankshaft should exit the front of the cowl....to me it will not fit inside without the top cylinder sticking out of the cowl by a fair amount.( there is on you tube a TF Giant P-47 using the Saito 57,but mounted horizontal.......it to has one of the cylinder heads sticking out of the side of the cowl...as the engine is off-set on all these birds.....the TF Giant P-47 is bigger,looking about 1/5 scale as opposed to the H9 at 1/6 ).

Have you got the H9 30cc P-47.......?

With respect to running the 57 in the vertical position,you could just do a engine test run-up on a stand to see..........I can't see there being too much of a problem with it running that way,as you say they run all ways as a single.........

Just do another dimension check for the 57..........

Yes, its the H9 30cc model. Do you think if I was to mount it anyway that the motor would be too much for the airplane? Ive heard that they need some nose weight with the evolution motor anyway but not sure if this Saito would want to torque roll the airplane?
