Default MOVING PERMENANTLY TO DUBAI

To the rc jet community in Dubai,

I decided to make a big jump in my professional career and will be relocating to Dubai permenantely by the end of September. I will take my babies with me of course.... http://www.rcuniverse.com/community/...y&memid=387285

Those of you that live or have lived there please share with me tips about life with rc jets in Dubai but also about life in Dubai in general...

- How big is the RC jet community in Dubai?
- Where do you find jet a-1 and jet oil?
- When do you fly usually? Also during the summer?
- Are there any rc jet events taking place this year in Dubai?
- Which community would you recommend to me to rent a property? I don't want to live in an appartment

I'd appreciate here any feedback or PMs about living in Dubai.

Thanks all in advance for your help. This is why this hobby is great. It doesn't have any borders.

Kind regards,

Tassos

Not so much different than FL. I have been in both places, more than a few times and actually, winter in Dubai is somewhat cooler than winter in Miami!!

Hi Tassos,

Welcome to Dubai, I have lived here since 1997, and along with Darryl Tarr was one of the first turbine jet modelers.
To answer your questions in red...

How big is the RC jet community in Dubai? ....Getting bigger when you arrive
- Where do you find jet a-1 and jet oil? .... Deep in the sand although you will need to refine it!
- When do you fly usually? Also during the summer? ...most of the time we fly unusually as we are not that good!
- Are there any rc jet events taking place this year in Dubai? Every time we fly it's an event as I said most of us are not very good !
- Which community would you recommend to me to rent a property? I don't want to live in an apartment ...I have a friend who rents bedouin tent if that helps!!

To be serious...joking aside,
We have a jet community of about 15 -20 in total.
Jet A1 and oil is available we can help you with this i'm sure, you won't run out!
We fly at Al lisaili, towards Al Ain, 15 minutes outside Dubai, very easy to find, most of us fly early Friday morning and Sat, but anytime we get free time.
There is talk of a get together during Eid.
Great place to live in a villa is Arabian Ranches.

We have a great bunch of guys, we are known as the peanut gallery on face book, we fly and have serious funny Friday Mornings, I'm sure you will be more than welcome.

Feel free to PM me

Lee

Thanks guys for the warm welcome.

Thank you Lee for your feedback. Very funny. I was actually looking around the Arabian Ranches already and many people have said alot of good words about that community.

Argyri, unfortunately I have to leave our beloved country, but I will not leave our great hobby.

I guess after the summer goes there is alot of flying round in Dubai until the next summer comes. I can't wait for it.

Looking forward to meet you guys over there.

Tassos
