Default Jetcat P20 SE - what airframe?

Yes...another "best airframe" thread. Looking for a suitable airframe for a P20. I have lots of turbine experience under my belt (Tornado and an K170 UF) so pilot experience is not an issue. I would like something that houses the turbine on the interior (not on the outside like a tornado or kingcat). Also leaning towards a sleek sport jet but I will consider anything. Here are the details:

-Flying off of 450ft of grass.

-Would like something to take eflite 15-25 retracts.

- I would like to get a tams pipe and trailing links without brakes as people really seem to like them and it is easily available

My first choise would be the GBR Stinger but seeing as it is out of production I will have to choose something else. Seriously looking at the Habu 32, HET 90mm super sniper and the CMP T45. I don't mind modding to make the P20 fit but I don't want to completely re-engineer the airframe either. Cost isn't an issue.

I have both HK L-59 it is perfect, and the BAE hawk It is nice also have their new Glass BD-5 it is a doll. But it may be a little heavy. Ill know later.
I am flying the little Bobcat 25 from Nitro Models. it is Perfect for this Turbine. at $55.00 you cant beat it. No retracts.

I am flying an E-Turbinator with one. Perfect power. Will fly off grass easily but is not really that sleek looking. I have a CMP T-45 also but am wondering if it will fly off grass because it is much larger than the Turbinator.

never go wrong with habu32 !

it fly so well and the price is not too bad!

much easier to put togather compare to Hk 90mm hawk
don't mention the quality!

I'm also building a jet tang viper super good quality but not easy to build
as well...p20 will fly it but I'm sure under power.

Do a search. There are at least two extensive threads on this topic.

The fiberglass 90mm MIG-15 from hobbyking is a nice flying airplane. I believe BIGPLUMBS did a conversion. I fly mine with a 90mm HET fan and use the 15-25 eflite gear. It's alittle more head scratching to get it built than the Habu but it flys really nice and it works from a grass field.

I've got the JTM Viper Jet and it looks perfectly matched to an MW44 Gold. The other models in the JTM range look just right for a P20. If I had a P20 a JTM L39 would be sitting on the work bench

The 90 mm hobbyking airframes are as good as any you will get no problem at all

I have the 90mm Viper, the Hawk and the New L-59. By FAR the best of the 3 is the L-59 In fact I tell everyone that the only fault with the model is, that its not a turbine. It has plenty of space both between the intakes and up in the cockpit for what ever is needed and the wing is removable.

The flight envelope is huge! It will have a ground speed of Zero in a 15klm headwind or flat out for a top speed that I recorded on my phone of 165mph on 7s

The flaps are very effective and require very litle elevator when deployed.

Trust me..you wont be disappointed

If you cant decide on which plane to buy..Sell me your P-20

A friend fitted a Lambert to a Savex L-39 following success with an earlier Wren 44 powered version.

Savex will build a light layup version to order if requested. I don't know how long you would have to
wait if you ordered one - the only question mark.

If you want quality, and the Savex models are magnificent, this may be an option. Keep in mind there's
quite a bit of fiddling & thinking to get it going, don't expect to fly it a week after it arrives. - John.

The Savex L39 flies very good, but they turn out pretty heavy for a P20. The most thrust I have seen from a P20 is 5lb, while the Lambert puts out 6-6.2lb even on a warm day. Flying from tarmac I guess it doesn't matter but from grass the extra pound of thrust is really needed.

I would vote for a foamy, very relaxing and fun to fly.

ive just finished building my p20 Habu32 i think its a great option for the p20
otherwise a JTM model or eflight f4 could be worth looking at

i really dont see the point of spending so much cash on a high quality turbine and sticking it in to a hobbyking jet

All have diffrent preferences and diffrent flying conditions. The point of a foamy (hobbyking or not) is that it flies from any airfield, completly eliminating the nervousness. Mounting the engine in the tail also provides a good deformation zone, if you crash it the $$$$ engine will survive. All this makes you want to fly alot, and you can as the local grass field is very much good enough, alot of flying makes the cost of the engine very resonable. So alot of very good points I think

Best example I've seen of putting a P20 in a foamie. I guess as long as the CG can be achieved and doesn't change too much in flight as the fuel burns off...then why not.
